If they have it in their hands already .. it's likely they got it from Microcenter and not through the queue system here.

There are whole discord servers of people bragging they joined all of the EVGA queues when each product launched, and they've scalped every single one of them. And these communities use bots to log in to their accounts and add to cart so that all they have to do is click a button to purchase. Especially some of these people have had Elite status for a number of months, or they actually spammed the forum to get their 100 posts, or watching twitch for a few hours a day in a muted tab to get their 5000 channel points for Elite status.

There are like 20 different 30-series product SKU's. And there are loads of people buying them up through the EVGA queue and flipping them for x2 MSRP or more. For the entire current 30 series product stack, there are people making $20k+ in profit - simply because there are people willing to pay for them
I mean you can blame EVGA for that making it so that the buy restriction is "1 per SKU per household" - so a single account can buy all the 30-series SKU's and not get dinged for it.

Scalpers are a symptom, not a cause.

The root cause is the low supply and massive demand. When people have money just sitting around and doing nothing with it - they're more willing to pay a higher price for an in-demand product.

I'm not mad in the least bit there are people who are fast enough to take such advantage. I respect the hustle. They're the ones who will be padding their retirement accounts or buying new cars or houses or more items to scalp for more profit, while the rest are on forums complaining about it.

The problem is in my opinion is the lack of in-person sales, mainly because after this pandemic online shopping seems to the only norm to this type of product. Someday I hope we can get in-person products again.

I stood in line at BestBuy for the 3080 ti release day. After the purchase guarantee slips were given out at 7:30am one of them with a slip walked down the rest of the line (who did not get a slip) and offered to sell the slip (right to purchase) for $800. So, effectively this scalper was looking for $800 to wait in line for 12 hours. It could have been prevented if BestBuy put the original person's name on the guarantee slip - similar to a raffle ticket and stub.

I agree there will always be scalpers. But, I'm proud of those stores doing what they can to limit scalping, and make it possible for everyone else to still get a video card at retail prices or better.

That is WACK, like i understand they just want to sell product (the stores) and rightfully so but they should see this problem and attempt not to feed into it.

At least locally, it seems the prices are coming down the last week or two and cards still aren't selling at the lower prices. The dip in crypto seems to be helping the issue.

This was posted early this morning before it would have been reasonable that UPS Next Day Saver would have made the delivery.  Is it possible someone got it dropped off before working hours? Sure .. is it way more likely they bought it at Microcenter? Yes.

While that would seem to reduce a lot of potential scalpers.... doesn't fully eliminate them.

I remember when the PS3 launched, my mothers boss who is a family care physician, paid me $50 - along with with several other people including his own employees and their kids - to line up at Walmart and Best Buy and K-Mart to buy PS3's. He each gave us a stack of cash to pay for the console and to keep the change, plus the $50 for our time. In total he was able to obtain something like 30 PS3's, which were to be donated to a childrens hospital and some local kids who are less-fortunate.

If someone can do that, for charity, people can do the same to scalp.

Sadly, it's easy money for folks to flip. Unless there's a better verification process... we're stuck.

i dont know of any bots that work on evga, might be there tho also since crypto is going down the prices gonna fall as well. More gamers will get them. My friend has been trying to get them for a while and he hasn't had any luck. Bestbuy is much better than any other site in my opinion

CC looks to have removed their 1 card per account, so yeah… now scalpers can hoard them all. Previously if you had a gpu on back order or had bought one from CC then you were done, so now that the limit has been removed, yeah… good luck getting a gpu from them.
At least with evga we can eventually get one.

When everyone says CC I keep thinking Circuit City instead of Canada Computers or whatever it's called.
