    MB:EVGA E758 3way SLI
    PSU:Corsair HX1000
    GPU:GTX 480 SC (SLI) + GTS 450 (Physx)

Meltdown symptoms:Under full load with above hardware, 24-pin connector heated up well beyond normal. (over time IMO, it would have melted)

this thread is to gather info reguarding the issues members have been having with the classy MB's and the 24-pin melting. I have had the same results with the e758 MB but did not let it get to that point.

Thread is strictly to see what MB's user have had this issue with, Gpu's and there config and PSU. maybe this clarifies it.

It does not suprise me that there is not a plethra of people posting about the 758 and the 480, The vast majority of people that are going to Purchase a $450 t0 $500 graphic card, are also the people that are usualy going to purchase the classified over the 758, or now the classy 3,  762, or  SR2 boards. I suspect the majority of top performance driven people with the 758, may already be running 1 or 2 295's, or 2( 285's ), as that was the big dog's then, and for a lot of people it just wouldn't pay to swap out a working 295 quad system, for a Tri SLI, 480 system, price wise, although it would be a performance boost, remember your talking about tying up $2,500 worth of cards. ( if you count the 2(295's ) and 3(480's );  I do suspect the problem not only exists with the 758, but would be more prevalant, due to smaller traces on the board, but suspect you do not have the # of people rushing out to try the combanation that causes issues, as often with this set up. I do suspect we will see it more over time, if we don't get the word out, as/if the economey gets better, and people start getting tax refunds, just because people will have more to spend, which would make these kinds of combinations more prevalant. This is also why EVGA needs to address this, so people will not fear this kind of investment, or know what they need to do prior to makeing it.   ( have a 758, and have a plan of action, if/when I decide to try 400 series card in it, but for now that pataculer system will be staying Tri-SLI with 260's.  My 760 will be staying Quad SLI with 2 295's, and I won't be purchasing for my 759, untill a clear answer is presented, and confirmed, for now I'll just snag a 260 out of my 758.( I bought it to test and bench Tri-480's all on 16X lanes, but in lite of current posts (With Current representing resent posts, , and the flow of voltage ) All that is on hold.

so long story short, the e758 can not handle 480 sli with physx? i know i got some heat issues but a mod could take care of that. also why are no others except 1 or 2 MB beside the classys have no issues running 480 sli?
