I have to agree with bdary, 700W for 2 670 FTW is pushing it. The max power rating for it is 170 W. Assuming that everything is at 90% utilization (all components), you are looking at 504 W of sustained power consumption. Assuming that your PSU is decent, fairly new (low cap aging) and etc, you are are possibly pushing the limits of the PSU. At a minimum, SLI of the 600 series cards requires 750 W (500 W single card x 1.5) per Nvidia's specs. It can probably be done with some registry hacks, but it is POSSIBLE that the driver is sending a query to the PSU and it is reporting back that it is 700 W, which is below the minimum requirements as specified by Nvidia. That is the only other thing I can feasibly think of. Otherwise, you could drive older drivers and see if that works.

bdary Also, keep in mind that your PSU is 700w, however, it won't run at 700w continuously. Most likely it will provide you about 80% of 700w which is 560w give or take for continuous use. It's possible your pretty borderline on power.
true, but that's a max power draw, could it cause the SLI option not to show in the control panel when the whole system is pretty much running idle? Zuhl3156 Remove your SLI bridge and check if there was any protective tape on it that is now preventing some of the contacts from connecting the boards. I know this sounds stupid but it did happen to someone else here at EVGA forums.
Thanks for the tip but no plastic or protective tape on the sli connectors or the bridge. Just tried to install nvidia drivers in ubuntu but it just froze up and now it won't boot. Will give it a second shot and report back. Also, i have a 500w psu in another system, to test the power supply theory would it be safe to set up a 2nd power supply to only power a single card while the 700W powers the other card and the rest of the system?

I don't think your PSU is the issue. The nVidia Control panel is not recognizing your second board as being available for SLI. This seems to tell me that there is a BIOS setting that needs to be changed, a BIOS update is required, the motherboard is defective and someone at ASRock would be more familiar with a fix, or there is a problem with the driver's installation.

Yeah i think your right. Might have better luck on the ASRock forums, starting to think its a DOA motherboard too.

I had an ASRock Z77 Extreme4 before this MSI and it just started flaking out for no apparent reason. I don't like their forums since they SPAM my screen with a full page add telling me to turn off my Ad Blockers. The reason? They have bills to pay! ASRock pays them to run their support site and if I were looking for parts to upgrade I would not be buying it from POP-Up SPAM. I was there earlier but didn't find anything.

Don't actually live in the states(Melbourne, Australia), any details you can provide here would be most appreciated.

Are the gpu's the same memory sizes? Have you tried a few other pairs to see if SLI becomes available?
Only thing I can really think of is the fact its not a certified SLi board, it just says its capable. There have been a few like that in the past with it marked as SLi capable but only truly supports CrossFireX.
See if the shop will test the both for SLI. Feeling tho its not the cards but your actual board.

The first item that was pointed out to me by 'maniac' was your PhysX Processor setting. Change it back to "Auto-select(recommended)". Remember to hit 'Apply' in the NVCPL.

Next, turn off your PC and disconnect one of the monitors. Reboot with only one monitor connected to the primary video board.

Fiiiiiiiinnnnnnaaaaaaalllllllllyyyyyyy sorted this out and have SLI up and running! Not the most elegant solution, and there is probably still something wrong with the board as it doesn't detect it natively, but HyperSLI 1.0 solved the issue for me. Installed it, rebooted, rebooted again and bingo, sweet, sweet SLI goodness all hooked up and working! Got the tip from the tweaktown Asrock forums when I copied this thread over. Thanks again guys for trying to help out!

It's good to hear you got that sorted and everything is working. I was following your posts at ASRock and noticed the suggestion to try HyperSLI but I am unfamiliar with AMD motherboards and their processors. Sorry I couldn't assist yesterday as I was busy with doctor appointments all day.

His motherboard is x16/x16 2.0, but is showing x8 due to the card going un-used. Going to go on a limb, have you updated your bios?

just a thought i wanna share, i had the same problem before and i managed to fix this myself. I even called evga support, they sent me bios update but all i get was a bad OC bios (yeah it's not working anymore after they tell me to run the bios update, my 680 classy now is running on LN2 bios or normal) but still no luck before, anyway... remove/uninstall all the drivers thats loaded, after that reboot and try installing the 310.xx drivers if you're not seeing the sli option. After installing 310.xx driver reboot, this worked for me. After changing mobo, cpu and os. I even tried 750, 850 and 1000 PSU and all that kind of stuff. and nothing worked until i remove all the drivers and install the 310.xx driver. Hope this work for you guys as well. Happy holidays!

I had this issue and it turned out to be a faulty PSU wire. Device manager showed two GPUs, but because it was only getting half the power due to a faulty power wire, I couldn't enable it in SLI. Just thought I would share that it could be a faulty power connection or wire.

I would have suggested this, but your board does support SLI... So there probably is a problem with your board if that fixed it....

Hello there, I had exactly the same problem with my 2 graphic cards, but I found a solution after trying everything here. You have your graphic cards in slot #1 and #3, same as I did. Try to change so that they are precisely underneath eachother, slot #1 and 2. It's something you normally don't think of, so if you haven't tried it, do try (I tried Hyper-Sli before that, but it gave me driver-crashes all the time.) I hope that it works for you!
