About two hours into the game and I love it. I am seeing the occasional white box flashes. I bought the retail version and steam did some update on the game, I wonder if the update is similar to the df9 file fix that is in this thread? I have not done the file update and was wondering when I will see the huge drop in FPS. So far everything is running smooth on Ultra but I did turn the water options down. I guess when I do see the FPS drop as mentioned then I will try the file update. It's more of a workaround than a fix. I'm about 15 hours in as of the end of today and still haven't made it to vegas . Right after I posted about never having the game crash on me, it crashed three times in a row after about 10 mins of playing each time. Hasn't happened after that though. Strange, I hit 10 hours then a bunch of crashes, hit 11 and hasn't happened since. Oh well hopefully they'll fix some of the glitches. There are already a few I'm suffering from, like Veronica being stuck at the level you meet her and not being able to complete the farmer quest in Nipton, and voices cutting in and out. Hopefully there weren't any spoilers in there . Either way, it's a great game and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest it to all of my friends. It's hands downt he most time I've ever wasted in a series. 4 playthroughs of FO3 and I have no idea how many hours. We'll have to see how much I sink into New Vegas before I get tired of the glitches.

I am getting ready to update drivers also with the New Vegas support. I am just hesitant to perform that df9 file update deal. I see people saying it fixes the FPS but some people experience issues too, I think card being recognized as 7900 series? Do I update the folder??? I'll try the new driver first and see where I get.

White/black specs/dots are gone with 260.99. I didn't have the performance issues that requires the dxdll fix, so I'm not sure if anything changes related to that issue.

I have a couple huge gripes with this game, but for the most part it is extremely fun. I would say it's a lot more strategic and hard than fallout 3, which does, in a way, make it funner. My biggest complaint is that the area wasn't hit by nukes. Idk what they were thinking, that's the games whole standpoint. It feels like I'm just walking through the desert in a lawless western, not in a war torn post apocalyptic wasteland. The desert was a pretty poor choice for a game of this setting I think. Oh well. Still really fun! If you liked FO3 you will definitely like this, it's nearly the same game.

There's really no reason to not do it. Unless you really care THAT much about fallout thinking your gfx card is a 7900. It's doesn't inhibit gameplay in any way. It just thinks that's you GPU. No biggie .

Right, so my 480 will still be pushin the graphics its just the game thinkin its a 7900? The lag when fighting multiple enemies has to be this issue that is corrected with the file fix, correct?

Seriously, my mother figured out how to download files and move them to folders within a week of using a PC the first time and shes no rocket scientist. I mean, not to be a dick or anything, but you were posting earlier that you were looking to get into the IT field for a career... I really think you should think again if you don't know how to move a file.

"C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas" (or wherever your falloutNV.exe is located) Then start the game and you should be good to go.

The best game I've played since witcher, or maybe even Bioshock. The F3 sucked imo, and this one is the way the F3 should have looked like, or felt like to be more precise. To avoid stuttering on win7x64 one needs to accomplish 3 things: 1.Download the latest nvidia drivers. 2.Put the .dll file everyone is talking about into the game directory. 3.Download and install all windows x64 updates. You can go further, since there are other tricks that can be done, but those 3 steps would guarantee you smooth gameplay in any way.

I have the volume all the way up. All other sounds are great and sound awesome. I had the same thing happen in Fallout 3. I could hear everything except when a NPC was talking directly to me. Sadly, it's been so long I forget how I fixed it. Yet it was an issue with my sound settings on my computer and there was no dialog coming out my center speaker (where all speech directed to the player comes out). If I remember correctly, before I fixed that, I just changed out of 5.1 mode and it worked fine in stereo. No real surround, but at least I could hear the voice acting. How did I fix it? It's been so long it's hard to remember. I think it was a Windows setting (under audio hardware), and I think it was somthing like my hardware was not set to 5.1. For some reason everything but Fallout worked fine up until then. I think I spent a ton of time on my Realtec settings, and everything checked out ok. In the end it was some simple Windows audio hardware setting that only screwed things up in Fallout. Not sure why. I remember it not making sense since 5.1 worked in all my other games. So I would go to your audio hardware settings in Windows, go through all the tabs, and make sure it all makes sense. I will see if I can remember any more info. In the mean time you might want to try and change the audio settings out of 5.1. The only other thing I can think of is updating audio drivers. I really, really want to say it was a Windows update that changed something, and either changing a Windows settings or updating my drivers fixed it. edit: Just to walk you through something....go to your audio hardware under control panel (Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound in Windows 7, not sure about other Windows OS's, but should be something similar). Right click on Speakers/Headphones and go to configure speakers. Set it to 5.1 if you have a 5.1 system, or stereo if you have only 2 speakers. I am pretty sure this is what I did, but I do recall also updating my audio drivers. I would try both. The very last thing I can think of is making sure your sampling rate is set correctly also. Make sure it's set to DVD quality. I know I have screwed around with that in the past and it messed up my audio, yet I don't think that is the issue here. Yet worth a look to make sure. edit2: Last thing, make sure your ini files are correct. I believe another issue I have heard about is the ini files do not get updated correctly from the game. There should be an audio setting and a number. Make sure that correlates to what you want (you will have to look that up, or you could just try different numbers starting at 0).

ok I just ran into a strange issue, has anyone been to to the Ultra Lux Casino? some rooms of that place keep freezing on me and I have to get into Task manager to exit the game. I been everywhere else in the game and oddly enough thats the only place that does it to me.

I been everywhere else in the game and oddly enough thats the only place that does it to me. THAT HAS TO BE THE GLITCHIEST DAMN PLACE IN THE WHOLE GAME. Seriously, sorry for the all caps but jeez. I spent so long trying to get enough chips to get kicked out of there and every time I won in roulette, the game froze. I had to spam f5 when I won haha. I also couldn't complete that beef quest. Every time I had to meet the inside agent or wtvr in the steam room it froze. The most frustrating thing I swear. Yeah well don't worry, it happens to me too
