Bought a .458 SOCOM today...
Not sure why...I just liked it.

Nice! I just built a .450 Bushmaster (Similar size round) :)!! (The FDE one)!  I ran into a hiccup on another AR I'm building.... I bought from a smaller company and that ended up costing me. The selector switch was slipping, So I tried to take it off and the screw just kept turning and turning lol..... I'm drilling it out (that's why it looks like it does in the picture)

I put on a vortex eagle 1-6 it also is a short barrel at 12 inches. registered. and it pairs with a hybrid suppressor. in that picture, is has a noveske keymod rail at 7 inches, it now has a 9 inch noveske keymod rail and it is normally paired with my noveske lower. the daniel defense is pictured. I'll see if i can get a current pic.

 I was just wondering how a gun thread would fly here. Nice rifles guys. I was thinking about picking up a suppressed 22 buckmark so I could practice without disturbing the neighbors. Money and the loooong delay for the tax stamp squashed that idea. I just shoot on mondays when the majority should be at work. No complaints yet.

The worst part for me is the takedown detent spring. my Black AR is still missing it, since when I was putting it in, As I was closing the telestock plate, the spring poked out and bent rendering it useless and the takedown pin falls on its own because of that lol.

Yeah I went thinking they'd have basic stuff like that since they have like a whole section for AR parts and of course they didn't sell trigger pins separately, just everything else...

Ok, regarding the 458 socom. It's not a plinker. Price of ammo can add up soon so you will want to learn to reload for it. I do. I like the 300 gr barnes tac tx and the 325 gr hornady red tips. PM me if you ever need some reloading info. Also. when it comes to sighting this thing in, the effective yardage of the 458 socom is 120 yards before the ballistic curve drastically falls off. So, I sight mine in at 50 and know that up or down, I'm in the vitals zone up to 120 yards. It's a blast to shoot. Kinda like a semi-auto 45-70 govt.

Good deal. I'm partial to beowulf and 45 raptor because bullets overlap with other guns I have and reload for. I think you will thoroughly enjoy it. My next purchase will probably be a weatherby mark xxii tube fed 22 if I can find one for a reasonable price in good condition.

I was issued one of those as well. I bought an AR after I got out, but being a lefty, it was awfully loud in my right ear. Didn't think it was worth the cost or having something odd to seek out a left handed version. Had an AK for a bit with a Holosun reflex sight, but found that I didn't shoot it much so I got rid of it. Still have a Midwest Industries T1 side optics mount if anyone wants to discuss a sale via PM.

Nice! I just put magpul MBUS on my 5.56 and I want to throw an ACOG on it
The .450 I'm deciding whether to get a scope scope or just an eotech with a magnifier like on your set ups.
I'm jelly big time!
I run a 1-6x small objective scope on my beowulf. Vortex Strike Eagle I believe. 6x is plenty for 200yds which is about all the distance I trust that Beowulf on deer. This way you get the magnification of a scope, but you can also have nearly reflex shouldering speed when down at 1x. I love my beowulf for hunting thick brush where you need to be ready to get on target fast when something pops out behind of a brush pile and runs.
