Sources in the hardware industry leaked some interesting pictures of a new, supposedly reference-design NVIDIA GF100 GPU graphics card PCB, watermarked by board partner Little Tiger. The pictures reveal a PCB that's similar to that of the GeForce GTX 480, but with a stronger VRM that makes use of better high-C surface-mount capacitors (completely doing away with cylindrical capacitors), and draws power from two 8-pin PCI-Express power inputs. The design can deliver up to 375W of power (that's not the board power we're talking about). This also opens up speculation about what NVIDIA would do with this design. The most talked about theory as of now points to a new high-end SKU by NVIDIA based on the GF100, that enables all streaming multiprocessors (SMs) physically present on the GF100, taking the CUDA core count up to 512, and ROP count to 64. The most likely marketing name for this SKU is GeForce GTX 485. Apart from higher CUDA core and ROP count than that of the GTX 480, slightly higher clock-speeds for the GPU are also on the cards. The memory subsystem remains untouched, at 1536 MB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 924 MHz (effective 3.7 GHz), over a 384-bit wide memory interface. NVIDIA could release this SKU this fall.

Oh yeah.....
T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G

512bit would normally mean 1GB (ie GTX285) or 2GB of Memory !

lol it will need even more power than the 480 looking at the 2x 8 pin power plugs.

The PCB design looks too neatly arrainged, plus there is no hole for additional airflow, tentatively I think we're looking at a non-reference GTX480.

Not sure if I buy it, but the upgraded vrm circuitry seems to jive with somewhat consistent reports of this being a weak link on current gen 480s.

Also your opening post says the ROP will change to 64, but the chart shows it at 48, the same as a GTX 480. The TMUs change from 60 to 64, maybe that's what you meant?

Better cooler with bigger fan instead of going the ATI route (like 480) with a smaller louder Delta ! Like I said in a previous post, make the (Power Bulge lol) like a 8800 Ultra and use that extra outer space to fit a bigger/quieter fan (I know the 8800 Ultra did not make use of extra space though). Also be glad to see back of tall cylinder type caps that can break if you are in and out case a lot. Also more pins for power does not mean it needs more power, it could be cleaner supply like modern Mobo's use and after all 1 is always for the fan only (4pin on a 285 only powers the fan, the other 6pin+PCI-E slot powers the GPU.

There was nothing to figure out as it was no big mystery that the yields for both ATI then Nvidia were crap from TSM.

The more and more I look at this the less I think it will be the 485. I have a feeling this will be the full 512 core Tesla Fermi.

here is my thing, this is probably, a non reference 480 or 470. But IF this is a 485, with the specs that we are suspecting, then Nvidia did a really good job on the respin, opening the full capability of the gf100 core, adding a little clock speed, and dropping the power requirements, by at least 25w. Either they did find a new manuafacturing process to go to. (unlikely) Or again, they did a really good job on the respin. The one thing that I do have to say is this, why is it that everyone seems to find it so amazing that nvidia would make a 485 with the full core capability. This was the logical next step, respin the original chip to repair the issues that they have been having, not just yield issues, but design issues with the 40nm process. Then when they have the gf100 core maxed, put a dual chip together. Then eventually make another chip. Either a full new architechture (unlikley) or they will probably work twoards adding more shaders, and probably memory bandwith, perhaps on PCI-e 3.0 if it is out by then.
