Best of luck and take your time and write down what each cable you now have to what they go to or Plug into.

Do not use any of your current cables on your New Power Supply and do not use any cables from your New Power Supply on your Old Power Supply.

I'm having the same difficulty plugging the dual 6-pin to single 8-pin adapter into th2 GTX960 graphics card...
It seems to me that this is the problem...the 5 pins that have only one wire going to them have a certain amount of float in the contacts (within the plastic housing of the 8-pin side of the adapter).  I suspect this float should help the pins self-align during insertion. The last three pins (on the bottom row) that have two wires going into each are very stiff in the connector housing...they don't "float" in the connector housing as freely.  I suspect these contacts are the ones causing the problems...They're likely hitting on the tops of the pins as I'm trying to insert the connector.

This IS very frustrating that this simple connector is causing so much difficulty!  I'm still working on getting this cable inserted...this project should have been completed a couple of hours ago without difficulty...as it is I've pulled the card back out of the machine to try to gently persuade the connector in, with a greater degree of control.

All let you all know if I find some trick to getting this to go in easily...(tried pulling on the wires to keep them taut as EVGATech_JamesL suggested, but that hasn't worked yet...)

Argh! That is all for now...
