https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-rumored-to-launch-rtx-3090-super-rtx-3070-ti-16gb-and-rtx-2060-12gb-in-january According to a Tweet by hongxing2020, NVIDIA will indeed launch RTX 3090 SUPER early next year. The tweet claims it is true NVIDIA is launching RTX 3090 SUPER, an updated flagship model with full GA102 GPU, and RTX 2060 12GB a refreshed Turing mid-range GPU with twice the memory. Furthermore, the report claims that NVIDIA will be updating RTX 3070 Ti with 16GB memory, something that we have not heard about yet. NVIDIA will therefore be updating three SKUs representing each tier in its lineup. It is unclear what will happen to exist SKUs, or why would RTX 3070 Ti suddenly have more memory than RTX 3080, but then, there is RTX 3060 with 12GB memory already, so nothing sounds surprising anymore. The report is missing information on other SUPER SKUs, which might suggest NVIDIA is either planning other SKUs for a later date or not planning it at all after introducing 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti variants just a few months ago. The entire RTX 30 SUPER desktop lineup has just recently been revealed @kopite7kimi, who expects four SUPER SKUs: RTX 3090 SUPER, RTX 3080 SUPER, RTX 3070 SUPER, and RTX 3060 SUPER. The arrival of the SUPER series with updated vanilla/Ti models suggests NVIDIA is saying farewell to sub-8GB memory variants once and for all. This is a response to AMD launching Radeon RX 6600 XT and soon RX 6600 with 8GB memory. So far both companies have avoided releasing graphics cards with lower memory capacity. I will assume that if this rumor is true the old models will no longer be sold.

i think this is a smart idea considering the chip crysis we are in right now. making more variations of GPUs sounds like a good idea to me if it true.

I like the options here, but there is always the question - will there be stock available?

Before long we'll have more memory in our GPU's than on our motherboards.

Just wait until you have to plug the motherboard into the GPU...

I'm not liking the 80ti change but it is what it is. so the 3080 super is less powerful ? than the 80 ti?

I would expect that the 3080 and 3090 will be effectively retired and the 3080 Super and 3090 Super will be significantly more expensive than the 3080 and 3090 MSRPs (in line with 3080 Ti's price jump compared to the 3080 and 3090). In other words, I don't think that you will like the options when they are released.

The 40 series will allegedly move to 5nm, which should be a major improvement. If you have a 20 series now (or a 16 series), I would wait until the 40 to upgrade.

Just my assumption: Like every company on the planet, with the cost of: goods/labor/logistics going up across the board, you have to imagine margins incredibly thin for Nvidia. Probably doesn't make much business sense to continue producing the same SKU #'s with current contracts in place (card makers all the way to retail) . Just tweak the RAM a little bit here, play with voltages and coolers and bam new SKU number and new contracts ready to be negotiated and signed...(and really what card maker or retailer won't sign these deals given current marketplace conditions). Consumers have already shown that they are willing to throw down over $3k for a top end card no problem. I wouldn't be surprised if retails shook out 20-25% more than non super cards.

I think if this is true that we probably would see another year out of this generation. I don't think we would see these come out in January and probably have them ship out to customers a couple weeks later and then be replaced in less then a year.

Given having 16GB DDR4 and obtaining a 3070 Ti with 16GB VRAM and Resizable BAR enabled, do you think it will be possible to save myself from upgrading to 32GB RAM to play Star Citizen smoothly?

So the rumors were true. I guess they will be in super short in stock too, right!

These are still rumors/leaks and we will know the facts eventually. My hunch is that the Supers will happen and most other SKUs will be de facto dumped.

Correct...but SKUs are being reused just like Intel, another strategy Nvidia likes to copycat, clap clap
