Just finished my first SSF pc and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. This is also the second PC I have ever built and replaced my old I7-3700, if you see any thing that I could improve on I would love the feed back. I am still waiting on an upgraded GPU (3070FTW3 Ultra) but the 1060 is still holding me over for now.
This PC has had a few revisions since I started it. The only major issue I had was trying to fit an Arctic Liquid Cooler II in the case, even though PC Part Picker said that it would not fit I tried it anyways because the numbers all seemed to be within spec. What is not factored into those measurements is the distance needed for the hose bends coming off straight out of the top of the pump and that is what prevented me from mounting the radiator. In my defense I assumed PC Part Picker just had outdated information from a previous version of the case because this warning does appear with other parts that are known to fit right in. Cable management quickly became an issue with the cables that came with the PSU so that is when I decided to order the custom cables. To further help with cable management I removed the front IO (had to do it anyways to fit a FTW3 Ultra card in there) and also replaced 2 SSDs with a second M.2 drive. I would of liked to use a Corsair 750w PSU but did not want to pay an extra $100 over MSRP for it at the time. I am kicking myself a little now because if I do ending up snagging a 3080 GPU that requires 3 8-pin cables I will need to replace my current PSU as well as order another set of cables.
The CPU is OC at 4.9ghz and 1.3v. this was the first time I've messed around with that and it's a safe start while I figure out how to improve it.
Idle CPU temps at 25c
Gaming CPU temps around 60c-65c
Prime95 Blend test for 1 hour peaked at 78c
GPU with a mild OC peaks at 68c during gaming.
