One issue I have with the rampage IV formula is the placement of the front panel usb 3.0 header, on the top right of the board. would have preferred this at the bottom, but oh well.

Thanks guys! I just yanked out my x-fi soundcard.... it was causing all sorts of problems in games. I think it doesn't want to play nice with the asus board.... maybe it's them telling me to get an asus soundcard. That being said, I switched to the supreme fx III audio on the R4F and it sounds pretty good actually. (plus no more game stuttering, or windows sound crackling)

Quick question, do you think sound cards are worth the investment over on board sound? I have always kinda wanted to try out a sound card but dont really have the money to just try something out. I have 5.1 but its nothing studio quality, do you think it would make a difference?

Thanks, Sleinous! I appreciate it.

BigH: I tend to think that they are worth it, I can tell the difference in quality between my x-fi that I yanked and the supreme FX (which is just a realtek chip covered with x-fi software). I was going to buy a new card, but there really isn't anything better than what I have for 5.1 channel gaming / overall performance sadly. Most new cards are made for headphone users, or people with two speakers, or folks who want to output optically to a receiver. Well, I want to actually use the power of my sound card so optical out is out of the question.  My next step here is just to try and get my x-fi to work properly without crackling......I'm going to reinstall windows this weekend and get to the bottom of it.

edit: and oh....yeah...... I have another piece of "red" hardware to put into the machine arrivng tomorrow! Don't worry, it's not a graphics card.

runs fantastic...... 4.5 ghz with ease at 1.3 volts. Got a few things to iron out later tonight though, a new arrival is going to warrant a fresh windows install, and I'll give my x-fi titanium one more chance to work correctly.

NLGarett: I debated whether to go with the 3820 or a 3930k........ being able to get the 3820 for $229 really made the decision easier. I'll go six core when I need six cores.

Looks Great Man!

Sorry to Semi-Hijack Your 3D Mark score you show that was on the Overclock? Processor and GPUs? I ask because I think together we can anwser a lot of questions for people. Here is why -

Similar Processor Clocks with 4 Core / HT
You are running 8 GB Ram More then Myself shouldn't make a huge difference I would think.

BUT
I am running 2x 670 FTWs and my Stock GPU Clock but OCed Processor Score is 15586 so exactly a 1500 Point swing.

http://3dmark.com/3dm11/3518180

Gonna try some OCing of the cards but I am very interested to see how the 670 vs 680 stack up. Everything I can see the 670 FTW... honestly is the exact same thing except 1 core disabled. amiright?

well your cpu score is about 1500 higher than mine, but the 680s win by about the same amount on the GPU. that makes sense, no? Ivy bridge being a bit more efficient, plus you have 100mhz extra on your overclock.  All seems right.  Nice setup you've got too!

my 680 overclock is mild, one card goes to 1215, the other to 1229.

Very nice!  I like that case a lot.  Might be time to go back to a full tower, in either matte black or gunmetal.  Great work, enjoy your system!

Great Job on the build!!!

Molex on the H100, junk. It caused mine to short out but they replaced it at no cost other than shipping to them. Make sure its connected well and all pins are tight together and hasn't pushed the other pins out any which will cause it to short out.

Sound for me comes best out of my receiver using the head phones, but it also sounds good using the speakers in 5.1 with gaming and I can turn it up really loud and it sounds like i'm really on the battlefield playing BF3. I can also crank up the music and change the preset to stereo and i now I'm jammen with a rockin system and not some silly computer speaker. It was well worth the extra money for this kind of set up over a video card that is most likely going to give you problems and/or sound like some s**t.

Anyway great build and +1 to you and your RIG!!!

I've already got a sound card installed. It works perfectly now using the beta driver creative has hidden on their site. Thanks for the compliments regarding my build, and yeah I can't see why the h100 has a freaking molex connector.......... at least give it a really long hideable cable so i can make it **** of the visible portion of my rig. haha.
