Sorry guys, no pics tonight. Bro has work early tomorrow, and the Rangers game (WIN!!! woot!) went to a shootout, so he couldn't get me my pics tonight, but I'll get them tomorrow. I'll see if I can get him to put some tube into the fittings so we can see how they look while im at it.

Hey everyone! So my gtx 580 classy came in and I got a few pics but nothing great. I just have a question. When my brother opened up the package (keep in mind this is used from eBay) he said there was some condensation on the inside of the small flow window on the water block. Is this normal due to the card being used before or is this a problem? If not, how would I flush the water block to clean it Out, or will it naturally do that when I leak test the loop? Thanks.

if the card was used that would be normal if the old owner pulled the card and didnt dry it out completely, i wouldnt worry. i would just give it a quick flush by itself just to be safe.

haha working on it Unfortunately this won't turn into a build log, because I'm currently at college. If the items were with me I'd have everything mostly set up with better pictures, but the stuff is all at home with the people who dont know how to use a computer (taught my mom to copy paste with ctrl+c, ctrl-v about 2 yrs ago). So the build itself wont begin until the end of the semester/ ivy bridge release point..until then, ill do my best to get moar pics. Speaking of:

Also I am sending back the D5 pump to exchange it for the "S" version. That one is not a vario, but it has much better flow rate/pressure head, so it can handle more things in the future, and I may also get another 120mm rad from an xtremesystems member to go in the bottom of my case along with the 360mm

Hey everyone, quick question. So a member on another forum offered to sell me a 1 month old used Black Ice GTX Extreme 120mm Rad for $40 shipped. Good deal, or should I look for a new one at a similar price, such as THIS one? Or should I stick with what I got and use the money for something better? Thanks

Thanks You can't go wrong with blackice gtx rad(I will be getting a blackice gtx560), 40shipped is reasonable, I seen cheaper(30shipped) magicool stuff are okay, Remember, 40$ magicool does not include shipping. imo; Overall, get whatever rad that best for your budget. there is no benefits in getting new rad over a used mint condition rad.(find out what fluid he used with the rad, regardless whatever he say, flush out the radiator /w boil hot water then rinse with distilled water) also, Don't forget to put on the orings for the monsoon fittings, otherwise there going to be a serious leakage!

Honestly I'm not sure if it's necessary or not. I have a 360mm rad in the top, but this case can fit a 120 or a 140mm rad in the bottom as well. I didn't know if another rad would be worth it for what I'm trying to cool.

Flushing it is simple. All you have to do is run clean distilled water thru it. The way I do it is I have a fresh 4L jug of distilled water with two hoses thru the cap. One hose goes all the way to the bottom and the other stays close to the top. When I run the pump it pulls water from the bottom and as it runs and cleans the rads, it pulls all the contaminants along and they settle on top (for the most part).

so you run the pump in a kind of "rad only" loop? Sounds easy enough

Yeah you could do that, hook each rad up independently and run the pump. It also works as well if you hook all the rads together to the pump only. It's essentially the same thing.

Np at all, glad to help. Just make sure you have enough clean distilled water to flush. My personal rule is one 4L jug per 360 rad or 2 240 rad and I try to stay with that ratio. It may be a bit excessive but the way I see it I'm spending an extra $1.50 to $2.00 per rad to make sure it's properly flushed and I get everything. Gives me piece of mind. Some people will even double that and go as high as 8L per 360 rad. It's up to you really.

Alright, guys, now I'm going crazy hehe . I want this to look perfect, so when I saw newegg put the white version of the apogee HD block up for $20 less than the black one I bought at microcenter, I jumped on it, and I'm returning the black one. I know it's not that important, but it is to me haha. I'll try to get more pics incoming.

Hey everyone, I was asked by another forum member, and now I am curious as well. Can you turn off a PC that is water cooled? I usually turn mine off either overnight or put it to sleep overnight, and shut it when i go to college for the semester. Thanks

I've never heard of that before. If anything your computer is the coolest at start up because everything is at ambient. I have my computers water cooled and I always turn them off after I'm finished using them.

yeah no issues with shutting them down. i used to let mine run 24/7 until i seen the power bill. now with ssd's booting takes 10seconds it worth the wait for the power bill.

I absolutely cannot wait to see the finished product. My heart pretty much skipped a beat when I saw those white fittings. This will be a monster of a build, those gentle typhoons are great fans. BTW if you are still looking for a buyer for the GTX260's try Reddit /r/hardwareswap, when I mentioned I replaced my 260 with a 7970 I got 4 unsolicited offers :)

So I'm thinking my newer order for the loop will be RES>PUMP>RAD(140mm)>CPU>GPU>RAD(360mm)>RES Is that a better order?

Temps will level out for the most part. The component that is immedaitly after the rad will generally be 1-2c cooler, but really, not much. Tube it how it is most convenient, as long as res is on vacuum side of the pump, you are good.
