Wow, wish you would have had a camera, no offense.

Hope this is taken care of quickly! Seems that it is. : \

Sorry though.

@deadwidesmile The house I am in was built I believe in 1997. All I had on at the time was my PC, 27" ASUS LCD, X-540 speakers, Logitech G25 wheel, and a 40watt light in the room. I have a UPS but I took the PC off of it after I got my 480 because when gaming, or stress testing the UPS would say overload @110%. It's a 1000va 615w UPS. I didn't even dare hook my PC into it after getting the new PSU. (Corsair AX1200w).  I did plug my monitor,USB hub, and network equipment into the UPS to make it somewhat useful. I don't know what circuit I'm on, but I can check the box if you'd like.

Now people keep saying the power supply, along with EVGA. They pointed to my PSU when I RMA'ed my 285 SSC because it had a really loud coil noise. At the time I was using Corsair 750wTX. When I got another 285 back I heard the noise again. Then I found out that it was a common problem when the framerate was uncapped and went very high. My point is I'm using the same 2 power connectors with 2 8800 GT's in SLI. I know the wattage is much, much less, but wouldn't it rule out the power supply issue?

Any recommendations for a UPS that handles a Gamer rig like this?

Edit: LOL I know people, It would have been AWESOME if I had known this was going to happen, but my phycic powers weren't working so instead I had so save my computer from burning down instead of, grabbing my camera, switching it on, aiming it at my PC, AH MY PC IS A BALL OF FIRE MABEY I SHOULDNT HAVE GOT THE CAMERA OUT. :P If I can paint a picture for you, after the loud hiss and pop, fire shot through the fan hole and the fan was on max so it lit up the area inside the fan and around the ram. Yes it looked cool, but it's not cool at all :(

Honestly I laughed when It happend. Everythings been going to Sh*t latley and I had done a bunch of stuff I needed to do through out the day and then I finally sat down and was like "...ahhh time to finally game", and then I double clicked into GPU death. These things happen, luckly I have other PC's and parts so I'm on the same system just with 2 8800's.

There is a known issue with more than one program that "polls/modify" certain features of 400 series videocards.
The issue can lead to... 50c+ temps spikes, fan shutdowns and misreporting of values that can lead to mutiple problems with volts, temps and the fan controls.
-This is not to say that you just didnt have a card failure outright-
But there have been many burnt up videocards because of this problem.....
Just be glad you bought EVGA, it will be an easy RMA and be VERY careful not to use more than ONE program at a time that intefaces with the built-in features of 400 series videocards.
If your using Precision for fan control, TURN IT OFF before running anything like.. GPU-z, HW-Monitor, Everest, ELEET Etc (even things as simple as desktop wigets showing temps and fan speeds) and any others that interact with the hardware/software controls or monitoring features of 400 series cards.

What?!?!
I fail to understand how running two monitoring programs at once would cause a critical failure to a vidcard .
Are you saying that somehow the Gpu voltage is being modified ???

+1  Since you state that it is a "known" issue that running the two programs simultaneously can cause catastrophic failure (if it is the card that burst into flames and not another piece of hardware), please post the links to the articles where you read this takes place.

Yes links please!
Only time I ever heard of software harming a vidcard is when ATI purposely modified their drivers because Furmark was making their cards run too hot and thus burn up and the EVGA driver fiasco a while back that killed some videocards by incorrectly setting the fan speeds on the card, so it is possible but rare!

If Unwinder says its a "known conflict with NVIDIA driver fan control implementation due to low-level access to I2C bus instead of using NVAPI. Fan control layer of both PRecision and Afterburner use NVAPI only for maximum safety."

If his saying it is true isn't enough for you i might as well unplug from the internet

I understand how this could happen, but if I'm not mistaken, your talking about the Nvidia Performance tools which is a seperate download to control clock and fans speeds right? Once installed that's built into the Nvidia control panel. If this is what you're talking about I don't have Nvidia tools installed, I never liked them. Just E-Leet and Precision would run and I would just close out of E-Leet after booting up. Honestly I never liked E-Leet because the first time I used it, it was buggy as hell and dosen't save settings after shutting down. There's no reason why E-leet can't be built in to precision, or at least just give us the GPU voltage functions with precision so we can make our own profiles.
In my case I honestly don't think it had to do with software, but I do believe that programs can conflict if there's access to the voltage and other settings through software. That makes sense to me, and is the reason why I try to keep programs that run at startup or monitor hardware to a minimum.
