Its really nice to see that EVGA offers PSU's for everyones need from a low budget unit for a single video card on up to a high premium unit for quad SLI. I got a chance to check out evga's budget PSU the evga 500w bronze.

Feutures & Specs:

whats included:

PSU, manual, black phillips screws, and power cable

The EVGA 500w Bronze has a very nice black shiny finish on it. The fan grill design is a nice touch as well instead of the standard circular one from most other units.

Long sleeved cables to reach anywhere in most mid tower cases.

Voltage & Amps Specs:

a well placed toggle on/off switch

The system specs I am using with this is nothing special, just an older intel core 2 duo E2160 1.8Ghz, Asus P5N32E Mobo, 2GB DDR2 667 ram, 1GB GTX 560, 80GB hardrive, DVD drive, 120MM fan and 140MM Case fan in an antec 300 case, Of course this isn't a modern build by todays standards, but it will give an idea how the PSU performs for a typical low budget setup.

I used Folding@home to test the load of the PSU, with the CPU and the GTX 560 running at 100% load the +12 voltage was hovering around 11.64 - 11.72 which is well within ATX spec, and when the PSU is idle the +12 voltage hovers around 11.90

For the $45 price + $15 mail in rebate currently that evga has on it, this is a solid unit for what it does.

    This is a review?

Erm, Btw.. It's not $30+$15 MIR.

    It's $45+$15MIR... $30 final price.

Edit: Just bought it for my nephews PC! His PC has a stock 300W and I'm having trouble finding a good video card for that rating... Used EVGA bucks and got it for $15.38 (+$15 MIR = .38 cents) 1 step closer to having my nephews PC fixed up for gaming! :)

more of an unboxing than a review i think but ya cool thanks for posting.
i was eye balling this for an older pc that is not needing a lot but i think ill go bigger though.
if you don't need overclocking and a powerful gpu i would buy this one no problem.
one thing i noticed is there is no mention of what kind of caps this one uses unlike their higher models
where they mention Japanese caps are used.. so if i was reviewing this i would have got cap specs and pics of them
and pulled my multi-meter out too ;)

This 500 model for the price is gorgeous i think.. looks cool :)
It has really long mesh sleeved cables etc etc
point being is for the cost i think this is a way better deal that any other crappy cheap psu's out there.

well I don't have a multi meter and didn't want to open the PSU casing just to get a picture of the caps, sorry about that.

Alos thier wasn't much to say about this PSU, and I was limited on how I could test it.

One of the evga techs told me he tested 2 x GTX 660 cards on this unit and said it worked fined but I refuse to believe that after seeing how low the +12 rail goes with just a single GTX 560 at load

just meant what i would do ;)
i had a motherboard removed from my products list / warranty page after i showed pictures on here removing a sticker.
i had already used the mobo for years so i didn't care about warranty stuff anymore and yeah it still works fine sticker or not lol
my only gripe is they did not notify they did that in any way and after nagging about it with some other guy who had that happen to him too
i was told the admin would look into it.. never heard back but one other guy came back and i guess was checking up on my post history
and left me a little snotty reply saying something like well that what ya get for removing stickers on your mobo.
it was and still is pretty crappy up until that i had a good impression of evga's support.
i stopped coming here years ago because of snobby elitist comments being directed to me no matter how much i explain im not a noob lol
you can't talk to people if they leave snippy little patronizing comments lol

you did good.. i was happy to see it discussed.. the rest is a bonus :)
and if anyone cares i put an order in for the 750b too
maybe i'll tear it apart and post pictures ..warranty be damned lol

and seeing your reply i think i'm glad i went with a more powerful model.. better safe than sorry.

Just curious, were you measuring the +12V with a multimeter?

    Corsair 650D   -  i5 3570K @ 4.6GHz  -  Corsair H80i  -  MSI Z77 M-Power  -  16GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator Platinum
    WD 1TB Caviar Black x2  -  OCZ 120GB Vertex2 SSD  -  Corsair HX620  -  GTX285 SSC  -  Samsung T240  -  DIR-655
