Just thought I's see if it was ready and it appears to be installing. Edit: Well, it installed but they aren't letting you play. Looks like a 1.17GB install.

I bought it on Steam and they have not unlocked it yet for downloading. I will preaty much guarantee it will be larger than 1.17GB. That must just be the game front end. Terrain\map data will be much much more. Can't wait to play it.

Might explain why Steam is completely down right now. Flight Simulator 2020 download overloaded their servers? At least offline play works.. time for some CivV.

There's a Nvidia driver update today that rolls in a few FS20 optimizations.

Na, it's just an empty launcher. I somehow got a bugged run to open earlier and it hung on startup waiting for server. The full download is going to be 100x larger.

I got the standard edition installed through Xbox on Win10. It downloaded 91GB. Honestly I'm pretty impressed so far but I need to spend more than the 20 minutes I got tonight. The download process was ridiculously slow. It took 2+ hours to download that and install it. I can download 90GB in just a few minutes normally. They really changed the default keybind layout though so that's gonna take a bit. Once I re-map my normal Saitek X52 config to the new keybinds though that will help. Visuals looked pretty good so far, though I haven't done any real tweaking on them yet to see how far I can push. Most stuff defaulted to "high" vs "ultra" out of the box though and I was pulling mid-upper 40's everywhere (Seattle area and Sacramento) in a Cessna with no weather. This thing definitely makes a LOT more use of the system than FSX ever could. Averaged about 50-55% CPU usage on a 3700X while flying, and my 2080 Super was about 70-75 usage and using about 7.3GB of VRAM. Oh, yeah, system RAM. First load while loading into Seattle I capped at 20GB of RAM being used. The rest of the time I was around 12-16 including all system processes. I'm idling at 5.5GB right now for reference. Still noticed the old micro-stutters though. Not sure if that's just some optimizations that they need to do, or something with the terrain download/etc process. I was also playing with VSync on/off and maybe on was causing some frametime spikes. Definitely gonna start pushing overclocks on my 2080 now though to squeeze more performance out for this. Going to continue playing around with it and once my free with CPU purchase 3 months of XBox gamepass is up I'll probably buy the super premium collectors comes with the kitchen sink edition on Steam so I don't have yet another game platform to deal with.

Oh, I noticed it seems like they must have used something like Bing or Google Maps tiles or similar to render the generic tiles for stuff. I say this, because I flew over my house and surrounding neighborhood and ummm, it was accurate. Not just the street layout, but my house was the correct shapes (main house + garage) and zoomed in from a couple thousand feet kinda looked like when you zoom in on one of the maps apps in the 3D flyover views.

Bing maps. They disclosed that quite a while ago.

I've really liked what I've seen so far. I'm probably going to dump my FSX install in the next few days honestly. 1 I haven't really flown it in about 4 years now, 2 I set it up on my new PC last year but it never really behaved very well. Not really the new PC's fault, it's my adding in the second monitor caused issues, then I found it really didn't like GSync, etc. At this point I'd rather reclaim the space and move on (with addons it takes as much as the new one). I can always redownload from Steam and download my addons again if I want to run it in the future :)

Is it just me? Cannot select any airport to take off from in free flight. Only the ones in the list which seems like only the super detailed ones based on package purchased. Still getting to know the new interface but I thought all airports were supposed to be available for TO\landing and only a few were super detailed. Anyone else seeing the same?

I might wait a little bit to buy this. Is everyone buying it through Steam, or direct from MS? In the meantime, what's a good recommended flight stick? I'm not into it enough to spend many hundreds of dollars on it.. all I have right now is a years-old Logitech 'extreme 3D pro' joystick for Windows, which I purchased way back in 2008!

I saw a couple threads on this, and had the issue myself last night. Not really sure what I actually did to fix it after seeing some posts about it after it started behaving for me. Potential fixes are restart the sim, restart the PC if you haven't since install, zoom out/pan the map around. For me, something between either exiting and going back in or moving/zooming the map fixed it for me.

There is a line just above the canned airports. Place the curser in there and type in the airport identifier or just spell it out. Aspen does not have trees in the sky but MS2020 does. I was able to avoid the bark and land.

FS2020 seems pretty tame as far as required equipment. The sim limits you to 60 frames, at least for me, but I turned everything on Ultra, etc., and all worked nicely. I tried the Airbus but it would taxi extremely slow and would not turn. Brakes were off and TOGA thrust. The lower SD display would only display the fuel page and you could not switch it. Also has trees in the sky at Aspen, CO. The graphics look ok but nothing like the trailers so far.

I signed up for Game Pass for $1 for the first month to try the game out. I normally HATE pure flight sim games as I think they are incredibly boring. But I gotta say this game is pretty good and it looks STUNNING. Fully maxed out playing at 3840x1080 ultra wide is mesmerizing. The game is ridiculously detailed from the best skyboxes I've ever seen in a video game to the insanely detailed cities and airports. Now I like to play it a little more "risky" per se and I'm sure the passengers on my flights are all having heart attacks as I'm not opposed to doing barrel rolls in a 747 lol.

FS2020 caches each time you select an airport and that eats up a lot of GB's. I deleted and turned off the cache and did not notice any difference. Still trying to figure out how you can delete the entries in the logbook.

Running it with 1080 6GB card and it keeps crashing running in Ultra game settings. Had to dial back X1 OC settings from FSX significantly. Even tried without OC'ing and still get crashes... :(
