AMD Radeon RX 6500XT & RX 6400
According to our source ‘Disclosuzen’, AMD Radeon RX 6500XT is now set to launch on January 19th. What is important to note here is that its cut-down sibling, RX 6400 is not being introduced by AIB partners, but exclusively by OEMs.
Probably the most interesting information here is that both cards will use 6nm process technology. The source does not confirm which foundry is making Navi 24 GPUs but should be TSMC N6, same as Intel Arc Alchemist.
For its Navi 24 SKUs, AMD is introducing a new (marketing) specs metric, which is Memory Bandwidth with Infinity Cache. According to official specs, the RX 6500 XT has 232 GB/s and RX 6400 has 216 GB/s. Those figures without Infinity Cache would (probably) be 128 GB/s and 112 GB/s respectively. This also implies that RX 6500 XT has 16Gbps GDDR6 memory while RX 6400 comes with 14 Gbps modules.
In terms of power consumption, we are looking at 107W and 53W SKUs. The Navi 24XL based model is a single-slot and low-profile card that will not require an external power supply, the RX 6500XT, on the other hand, is dual-slot and will require a 6-pin power connector. Both cards are equipped with two display connectors: DisplayPort and HDMI.
According to the latest information, AMD is likely to announce Navi 24 GPU at its press conference during CES 2022.”
My thoughts: AMD is joining NVIDIA in releasing lower tier GPUs, possibly to counter Intel.
