Oh man, the wait is over, I got my 3090 FTW3 Ultra today, at only a few dollars over EVGAs price. The step up in performance from the Maxwell based Titan X is immense!

Sorry for the potato quality photo, Just excited!

This whole system is such an uplift from my previous one, I went from AMD FX / Maxwell, to Ryzen 9 / Ampere

    Noice!  Enjoy it! :)

Your CPU heat sink reminds me of a Zalman I used to have.

Man, I haven’t built in a case with optical drive bays in forever. Looks good though. Congrats, and enjoy!

That is because it IS a Zalman, an 11 year old one at that! I found out they made an updated bracket for the AM4, and if you had your receipt it was free. So, the cooler lives on!

I bought this Fractal Arc Midi in 2012 when they came out, wonderful case!

That was definitely the style back then. I still have a Corsair Obsidian 650-D case that yours reminded me of.

Get some good intake fans pointed at that bad boy, and keep an eye on the Vram Junction Temps especially with that cpu cooler.

Thanks for the concern, I always keep a close eye on temps, and I am doing no OC at all, have no plans to for now, maybe not even in years. The system is more then adequately cooled!

OK cool.  Many people have been concerned about the memory temps on the back side chips, as read by "GPU Memory Junction Temperature" in HWiNFO.  It's a powerful card at 420w straight out of the box and runs hot if not supplied with stout case airflow.

All good Kev, I have a dedicated 140mm side case fan positioned to supply fresh air directly over the back of the GPU, just as I did for the Titan X, which also had back of the PCB Vram!

Pretty neat, side fans making a comeback!  I'd just be a bit concerned about the side fan blowing into the card's heatsink where it's trying to exhaust air.

So, some people are going to cringe at this.

I'm running a major undervolt. (no I am not having issues with thermals, I'm just doing the exact same thing I did with the 5950x, find the power floor with out losing more then 5% performance.)

So for this exact unit, that floor is 825mv, with the boost curve set to deliver the cards rated 1800mhz boost clock. (down from the 1950 / 1125mv the car was hitting the wild)

The results were far better then what I expected, power draws of 275w down from 425w, peak temps of 52°C down from 70°C, and best of all performance hits in synthetics of less then 5%

Timespy GPU Score: Default 20,274 / Undervolt 19,413 (4.3% slower, 35% less power)
Port Royal Score: Default 13,186 / Undervolt 13,099 (0.7% slower, 35% less power)

This unit is astounding! This also gives me plenty of thermal headroom when I do need more power later. I held on to my Titan X for 6 years, purchased it new when they came out in March of 2015. I did not start overclocking that card till 2020. I hope to have a similar run with the 3090!
