Seems like a good upper mid level board maybe on par with the Asus Hero?  Hopefully it's priced fair.  Gotta thank EVGA for not including a ton of bloat swag, that is a huge plus for me (stickers, keychains and unnecessary things).

Jay beat up the yellow caps pretty bad in this vid..  you gotta wonder if component shortages attributed to the delays on the EVGA z690s mobos..  I would assume the yellow caps were an alternative replacement to some other cap that wasn't available, but that's just my guess.

Yeah, the yellow caps are a poor choice IMHO.  I'm not really a fan of yellow, and it is kind of a glaring contrast with the rest of the board.  Hopefully for the Dark they are able to find some black caps instead.  Still hoping they start shipping soon for them.

Funny as I think the yellow caps are cool! I was surprised he brought it up so much. But still I am ready to see the board in action!

I'll take it with pink caps for all I care.

I'm sure it was a distributor reason.  Maybe they tested 50 different caps, and were like "Ok these yellow ones are the best...but the manufacturer doesn't have them in another color."  I mean they are caps that could possibly have come from an industrial/precision parts manufacturer with clients that really could care less about the color of them or perhaps they are yellow for easy detection in those other environments.

I don't get the overblown hate for the yellow caps at all... they have been present in these board for many generations now.   that said I suppose the heat shield could be a smidge larger and cover them easy.

I DID like how Jayz mentioned the PITA plastic wrap that EVGA gets tucked in the edges of components.  That was infuriating.

I thought this video was ... not helpful.  It seemed like he wanted to give EVGA a great big FU over something but could not say it out loud for, you know, reasons.  So the yellow caps took the bullet for whatever nit he wanted to pick.  Seems like every thing he commented about the board came with a mumble, grumble, Negative Nancy thrown in.

What I really want to know is, where is some data, specs, price and delivery for a Z590 Classified?  Where is my 24 hour advance notice?  And not for the last time, as long as I am picking nits, where is my super killer EVGA Zx90 iTX boards?

I must be a minority here, I like the yellow caps, its a look at me attribute that you can't see anyways once you slap in a GPU, lol.

Was kind of hoping he was going to fire it up, interested if he uses it in his build, that ASUS board he's leaning towards got some wide hips, lol.

PS: I really like my X299 Classified K.  Everyone wants a Dark for obvious reasons - it is mighty cool and dark, which is the reason I have one. ;). One of these days I am going to frame my X299 Dark and hang it on a wall as art.  But for a daily driver I think I am, and most others are, better served with a Classified instead of a Dark.  Or even a mATX or iTX.

The yellow caps are hideous and dont belong on a high end board, that was what Jayz was pointing out.....personally I think it looks "bush league" with those on there as well....
I believe I recall seeing similar caps on my X58 Classy.

You wouldnt see that on any ROG Board, MEG or Aurous.....but it looks like they will be hidden by the GPU anyhow (which I dont think he mentioned).

If I see the Classy Board available for a reasonable price I may pick one up and give it a go (if I get bored w my Apex).
Will also wait to see reviews, OC'ing results and the expected BIOS updates to address issues. In all fairness its taken Asus 3 BIOS updates to get the Apex running decently.

..if you guys think it looks great with those yellow barrels on the board thats cool, just saying I get what JZ was pointing out....personally I think Evga could have done better with that part, especially as the Board will likely come in around $600 USD.

The yellow caps are the best. he's just trying to get views. If that's the only negative he mentioned then looks like its a good board. But did he even test it?!

Over the years one of the things I appreciate about Jayz videos is his perspective on Aesthetics as a whole. When the Radeon launch hit, he was quite clear on the use of the red highlights being wrong for many systems. The yellow caps fall into the same category.

Yellow would not fit my builds - I only ever used that as an RGB accent when Cyberpunk was being played.

In the audio world, people would be standing around, admiring the caps because they are very good, indeed.  It has been said on this site that Mr EVGA fancies himself as an audiophile.  One might imagine he thinks using good audio caps is doing us a good thing.  And I would agree.

No one noticed my big misspeak earlier.  There was not X299 Classified.  My board is a FTW-K.  No giant heat sinks, but slots.  Slots!  4x16, 1x4 and 1x1. !

    Thank you!
What yellow capacitors is everyone referring to? The two yellow audio capacitors? That is an audiophile thing. They have to be yellow because that is what audiophiles want. If they weren't yellow, audiophiles would buy a different board with yellow capacitors. That's also why they have to be laying on their sides. They have to lay on their sides so that audiophiles can see how yellow they are, even though laying on their sides makes the leads longer and defeats the purpose of supposedly low impedance capacitors.

I was picturing that all the board's capacitors were yellow due to sourcing. Fortunately it is only the yellow ones which are purposely yellow.

As an actual audiophile, no. I'd buy or reuse a dedicated audio solution. The yellow caps they've been using lately are hidious. Which is the exact reason I haven't bought an EVGA board in a few generations. Call me whatever you want, the fact is, stand em upright. It's less notecable.

Anyone have a picture of these hideous yellow capacitors so that I don't have to click that link and give watch time to a content creator who I don't respect?

Yep when I pay a premium price for a premium board I want performance, aesthetics and support (regular and speedy bios revisions)....

The Asus bios support so far has been excellent, as well as the OC'ability of some Memory kits (Samsung / Hynix)....

Looking forward to seeing how this Evga bad boy performs ;)

Its funny how pathetically soft the mods are deleting my comment. Its totally okay for someone to say something as stupid as "can someone post something because I don't like that content creator" but not when someone says something about his comment. COMICAL. Jays a great content creator and a good person and nobody cares if you like him or not. This thread was about his video.

Some people comment whether they have anything good to say or not.

As for the caps themselves, EVGA seems to be proud of them and you can cover them with electrical tape if you really don't like them sticking out.

The NU Audio cards are chock-full of bright caps. Not yellow though, they seem to be from a UK company. The spec sheets show blue and black or gold and black for the larger electrolytics. They also appear to be a bit smaller but more numerous and upright. I suspect that would have had to be the approach if they were to stand them up on a motherboard. They have to keep them low so they're out of the way, hence laying flat.

The yellow ones appear to be Bennic bipolar electrolytics made specifically for use in audio circuits. What's interesting with some of the newer boards is that they have built in audio for the rear panel, but then they have the NU Audio circuit (totally separate from the Realtek one) that is running the front panel audio. These Bennic caps go to that front panel audio circuit.

Overall though, I just find it very difficult to care. Maybe its because I'd rather see the caps than a plastic cover that most boards put everywhere. At the end of the day I'm left with an overwhelming feeling of "meh" towards the yellow caps lol.

If yellow caps are the only nitpick, then this board is a win. It's better than boards catching fire. Plus yellow caps don't bother me, my Z170 Classified K has yellow caps too. The manufacturer of the caps matter much more than the color IMO.
