LockedIt's time for an official response EVGA on the 3090's Dying. This isn't right.

We have been told it was a fluke, that it was just a small margin. But the events of yesterday have deemed an official response now.

EVGA, are you trying to obtain field samples to determine the cause(s) of the failures? There seem to be several examples out there. Including hybrid cards.

    Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Ultra Mobo Bios: F10b / Intel Core i9 9900K / 32GB G.Skill TridentZ RGB DD4 3200 F4-3200C14D-32GTZR / EVGA RTX2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Hybrid Bios: 90.02.30.00.AC /  Corsair HX1000i PSU

Is it truly an EVGA-only problem though? This guy says it's happening in 3090s from other manufacturers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLyNFrKyG74

We don't know what the actual cause is yet. It could be an nvidia core design issue with the 3090s/3080s like the high temps associated with the GDDR6X and their VRMs. Manufacturers should be using better thermal pads in the first place, so that problem wouldn't be a problem.

Wonder if it’s that somehow the temp threshold is being bypassed at which point the cards are just baking in turn destroying themselves do to some failure in coding .

Ive played the game on my XC3 Gaming 3080 ti... Temps , power draw and voltages were normal... Played it on a Asus 3090...no fps cap and gamed for about 6 hrs... Saw no issues. Maybe its just a freak coincidence that its EVGAs 3090s are dying playing the game.. But then again..I know of someone who was playing pacman on a evga 3090 with an emulator and his gpu popped a fuse . Maybe its finally time for evga to retire these 3090s... They do seem to be built like complete crap.

hard to say what is cool print folks reporting that even 2080 has those problems which apparently were not on ALPHA.
    check this out: https://forums.newworld.com/t/known-issue-nvidia-rtx-3090-series-100-gpu-usage/126068/8

edit: it seams all related to menu/setting screens. I know from experience that without configuring FPS limit those screens can generate thousands FPS per second which could overload some part of power cascade. One thing is certain I will not install that Amazon crapware :-)

+1..... also i would imagine it would heavily load up the frame buffer if you let it, and on the 3090's across the board, the vram runs a bit warm at the very least. This is def a game problem, not a card problem, and a settings issue. In the NW alpha everyone ran good and this issue cropped up with the beta release. Of course, everyone should KNOW that when running a alpha or beta release, alpha especially, you are going to run into strange bugs, certain key combos will dump something, etc....

The 3090 FE is an overbuilt card and runs at 350w stock, or 70w less than the FTW3.

I've skimmed through the reddit post regarding dying 3090, and found only a hand full of comments from users. They were saying they had issues when playing New World, like black screen and a few dying, the AiBs were Gigabyte, MSI and like one ASUS.. there was one dude, said his FE died, and what a joke... In the post, 98% of the reported cards with issues were from EVGA.... I'm not expecting EVGA to report or announce anything regarding this issue, they'll just RMA the cards. They've done this earlier in the year during the first wave of Dead 3090s

This is a new suspect I had not considered:
"And that’s probably where the new design that was introduced at the time comes into play now. As I was able to find out, it is not an area of the voltage converter that is affected by the failure, but the “Fan Control IC”, i.e. the chip for the actual fan control, which is said to be completely burnt out in the worst case."
