Hi guys,

I've been a lurker for a while and recently I've been having issues with my EVGA GTX 1070 (8Gb) and port detection for my second monitor and now my VR headset.

It has display/hdmi 4 ports on the back - 3 display port, 1 HDMI and 1 DVI on the next level.  I have two monitors plugged into the first display ports, and I plug my VR (Acer) headset into the HDMI.  Whenever I turn on my computer - my second monitor doesn't turn on unless I turn off and on my monitor, and my VR headset doesn't work unless I unplug and replug in the headset.  What's going on? Something driver related? My previous video card (EVGA GTX 970) didn't have this issue.

Ok, I think I figured it out from a previous post.  nVidia did a display port update last June in 2018.  After updating that - it seems to have resolved all issues.  I'll also need to do it on both of my other two gaming computers for my sons. And... I found the answer here in this forum!  At least EVGA has a community forum.

I spoke too soon.  Still not detecting my monitors even post-patch.  I have to power off from standby and power on my second monitor after booting up for it to detect my second monitor.

Any ideas on why the second monitor isn't coming on? They're BenQ RL2450H - maybe lower the display frequency to 59Hz?

I didn't have issues with my 970 , or 980Ti either but the 1070Ti that replaced the 980Ti has had issues with waking from Sleep , not Power Off as much? but one thing that helped up until the Latest Drivers (417.71) was to uninstall the NVidia HD Audio Driver, with 417.71 things have been good the last couple of days.

My Benqs' (BL3200PT) were already using 59hz in Windows but I have since found they will run at 75hz with no issues ( Nvidia Custom Resolution)

Thanks @Kbird666 - I tried uninstalling the nVidia HD audio driver but issue still remains. From cold boot, my second monitor is always off - I have to turn it off and back on again. Pretty weird. My GTX 7700, 770, and 970 never had this issue before.   Anyone else have this issue?

Have you checked to see if there are any firmware updates for the monitors?

Try swapping the cables and see if it makes a change - use the same port -> monitor so that only the cable is the difference

I have (likely) the same issues with an Asus 1070 and a BenQ XL2730Z, using DP. I have an EVGA Z170 Classy K, Windows 10 Pro 1809. I experience two problems:

    1) When starting from a cold boot (never on soft restarts), the EVGA splash screen appears but gets stuck there. No windows loading circle as normal. It will stay like this until I hit the reset button, or eventually it will switch to a "light blue" screen and hang there. Post code readout has switched to CPU temperature at that point, so it doesn't seem to be a problem with POSTing.

    2) When I do press the reset button, it will then proceed to load windows but when the windows logon screen shows up I only get a blank screen/no signal until I turn the monitor off and on again. At that point everything works normally.

I had recently discovered the sticky post with the link to the nvidia f/w update, and I was very excited to finally have a fix. Unfortunately it did not work for me (the update was applied, but the problem persists). I was ready to switch over to HDMI, but now that nvidia supports using Freesync on DP, I am stuck with it if I want to use G-sync/Freesync.

Edit: Forgot to mention that my drivers are up to date.

Have you tried disabling Fast Startup in windows 10? I have that off too so Win10 does a proper full Restart ( and WOL will work from Sleep)
