Set LED visualizer to have a breathing effect between +50 and +100 and upon shutdown and turn on, it seems it's reset to default settings. Is this normal behavior for a GTX 1070 SC or have I done something wrong somewhere?

It's a non-issue, really. But I tried to google and never find any info about these things.

Hello Faenix1 and welcome to the Forums!

I just downloaded the latest GeForce Experience and tested this on our test bench, the profile was able to save without any tinkering on my part.

If you only have one GPU and your LED Visualizer looks like the picture below you will need to click on the Nvidia symbol on the left to disable SLI bridge settings. You can also try clicking on the gear symbol in the top right corner of the window and make sure it is set to apply settings on startup.

So I guess I need Geforce Experience running for the LED effects to happen? I assumed once I applied whether I powered down or not they'd work.

What you can do is navigate to the GeForce Experience in your program files, typically found in C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\LED Visualizer and copy the whole LED Visualizer folder somewhere in your system. Then you can uninstall GeForce Experience, restart, open NvLedVisualizer.exe and apply the profile.

I just tested this here and when I first restarted the LED profile did not start up with the system. I opened NvLedVisulizer.exe again, clicked the gear icon, unchecked and rechecked the "Startup with Windows" box, then opened "System Configuration" app and checked that the NvLEDVisualizer.exe was enabled in the Startup tab. After I restarted, the profile was saved and booted with Windows without the GeForce Experience installed.

Yes, it is normal that during boot up (before the OS loads) for the LEDs to behave in their default way. I don't know why JoshephL is making the answer more complicated than it needs to be. The software doesn't save the settings permanently to the video card for it to know your preferences at next power cycle or reboot until the operating system fully loads and the software re-tells the video card what your preferences are.

Having to run a program so the LEDs are not constantly full brightness is honestly kind of lame.

Out of curiosity, does the FTW models RGB LEDs work the same way? Or are those changes saved directly to the card?

I am quite sure that none of the models of video cards have an EEPROM chip on them added for the soul purpose of saving and remembering your LED lighting preferences. That is an added feature I am sure their design team didn't think worth the slightly increased price, complexity, and design efforts for such a minor change in behavior.
They absolutely would never consider sharing the firmware EEPROM chip for saving the LED lighting behavior; and for good reason (corruption concerns and potential EEPROM failures due to excessive re-writes if someone goes crazy with constantly changing their preference). Therefore, it would have needed an extra chip and extra circuitry for the feature to be added.

Kind of makes me feel better not spending the extra $30-something (in my currency) for the FTW version. Eventually I'd stop opening the LED Visualizer and go for default, and RGB LEDs would of been the only reason I'd get it over SC. lol

Thanks for help, I naturally assumed it got saved to the card. Good to know I didn't miss anything. :)

The RGB lighting for the FTW and Classified cards is set by Precision XOC and is saved to the firmware of the card so it does not require that you auto load the software.

I was describing how you can get the LED Visualizer to load without the GeForce Experience but this did not work the first time for me. I had to check that it was set as a startup program then it worked properly.

    I was wrong...

Wow. I would never imagine that EVGA would risk saving the LED profile to the firmware EEPROM of the FTW and Classified. Huh. I guess a million writes lifetime isn't an issue and the dual EEPROM ("dual BIOS") makes it not that much of a risk. I guess it does make sense to take more risk if the card has dual EEPROM "dual BIOS" to fall back on.
