I have a Hannspree HF257 and I seem to have been having an issue for a while. I posted it on one of the other forums here, as well. I thought maybe it was my drivers at first or the fact that my card has 2 GPUs (it's one of the old, 275GTX CO-OPs) but now I don't think so...

When I try to set my resolution through the NVIDIA control panel rather than from the desktop, I lose a portion of my screen (it gets cut off). I didn't understand why until I went through the resolution settings from the desktop, clicked Advanced, Monitor and saw that my refresh rate was set to 59. When I tried setting it to 60, I had the same results.

Should I just get a new monitor? There are some games (though few) that actually get cut off because I cannot set the refresh rate below 60 for them.

    Have you tried this?

    http://musingsfromthemantle.blogspot.com/2010/02/getting-1080p-to-work-with-hannspree.html

Getting 1080p to work with the Hannspree HF257 Monitor, Nvidia Graphics GTX 275 underscanning issue.

So, if you have a Hannspree HF257 monitor, which is a beast and a great deal by the way, then you may be wondering how come you cannot get 1920x1080 monitor resolution out of your graphics card.  Even if you do, then you can't get the screen to fit into the monitor!  Its very aggrevating.

Well, little did I know that there is an option in the monitor control panel (use the physical buttons on your monitor) that has an option PC vs Video.  If you select PC then it corrects the overscanning issue that apparently prohibits the screen from fitting on your monitor correctly.  Such a simple fix, but apparently its not widely known!

    Here are the steps:

1- Use the monitor buttons to navigate to image settings.

2 - Navigate to video mode.

3 - Select to enter a sub menu.

    4 - Select PC Mode.

5 - Confirm that PC Mode now shows in the Image menu.

6 - If you selected it correctly, then your issues with monitor resolution should have fixed immediately!

    Hope this helps!

This may sound stupid but did you try 1920X1200?  I had a Hanns Spree 27 inch (can't rememebr the exact model) and it was a 1920X1200 and worked perfectly.

Here's the thing - and I do appreciate the suggestions - I don't have any issue running 1900x1080. It works fine as long as I am running at 59hz refresh rate...which seems to work fine for MOST games but not all. Any game that cannot run under 60hz WILL get cut off, as will my desktop if I change to 60hz.

Also, the PC vs TV mode setting does not exist - UNLESS I switch to a HDMI source... but when I am selecting VGA (which is how I have my monitor plugged in) it has no such option. =(

I have a 4 year old Hanspree HF207 and it's still like new. I'd say they are pretty decent monitors and cheap too!

If not the monitor, what could be causing this, I wonder? I've tried different graphics drivers and it's made no difference.

I should also note it is the 'drawn area' so to speak that is cut off. As it is native 1080p monitor if I have it set to 1920x1080p and put the monitor at 60hz instead of 59hz it will be 'off the screen'. However, even if I lower it to a resolution that fits in the screen it will be letterboxed but the letterbox will be off center and the full image will still not be fit into it. Very, very strange and it goes away as soon as I set it back to 59hz.

Have you tried a different cable?  Maybe a pin is bent or broken.

I haven't. I'm currently using a DVI/VGA converter (since the monitor only has VGA or HDMI). Should I get a DVI/HDMI converter?

Ok! That solved it. I actually found a DVI fem to HDMI male cable lying around (must have came with something) and I used that instead. Now I have the option to set it to PC mode and I can run 60hz with no issue. I might also add that the image quality looks significantly better than when I was using the VGA plugged into a VGA/DVI adapter plugged into the GPU.

Just got one of these fine devices.  Attached to a laptop, switching the monitor from "PC" to "video" made the edges start workig for me.  Good thing since adjusting the width wasn't an option somehow? (HDMI)
