Spotted a used SR-2 for around 400 dollars and I'm on the fence..
Comes with all accesories incl. the original box and packaging, fully working, original chipset cooling (even the peal on the fan is still present). Price does not include a pair of Xeon's or RAM.

In all honesty, I can't really do anything with it at this point but I'm still in awe for this board. So, is this board still worth the price or is it a better (and maybe smarter idea) to invest it in lets say.. a 3080ti (if that would even launch) or a 6900XT?

Just wondering what you all think. I'm curious.

I think it would make a nice PC home server.

They're fun to play with but I don't use mine for anything serious anymore.

I still use one as DAW, 12 core HT off 4700mhz.
    2x5690, a bunch of ssds in raid0. Win7.
    Pretty fast. Watercooled.
My 5300mhz 10 core intel 10900k get 7800points in cpuz, SR-2, 5200 points, so still 70% of new pc.
I did use my other SR2 for graphics/3d but replaced with a Threadripper with 8Gpu's ,so it just stand,
    No need of selling.
It was the fastest dual 1366 in the world and the only one with OC xeon's.
    Worth 400, yes all day

Until you notice that it's pulling about 200W from the wall doing nothing These Westmere Xeons are power hogs, when OC'ed mine idled at 250W and pulled about 550-575W running Prime95.
I have 2 SR-2's and an SR-X but don't use any atm. Is it worth $400? Performance and efficiency wise - hell no. Fun value? For sure!

I may, may not ever have a serious job for my X299 Dark.  I got it on a sub $200 flash sale, because why not? :).  I am pretty sure that I will put it to work in the not too distant future.  If not, I am on the lookout for a fancy, just-right frame for it to hang it on the wall as art.
