quick question about the whole z690 and Intel CPU. So I read that the new CPU supports 16 lanes of PCIe 5.0 and an additional 4 for PCIe 4.0. then I also here that it also provides an additional 12 lanes for PCIe gen 4. I am a bit confused. I read the article from this site

if this is in fact true. I will go ahead and purchase this board since I just got my notification about an hour ago
The 16 gen 5 lanes is for the top 2 x16 slots primarily for GPU(s) The additional 4 gen 4 lanes is for a direct link for a gen 4 nvme drive to the CPU. The additional (up to) 12 gen 4 lanes and (up to) 16 gen 3 lanes are lanes connected to the chipset for additional devices and IO such as more m.2/u.2 nvme drives, USB ports, SATA ports, Ethernet ports, pcie slots. Look at what this board supports and see if that suits you as each manufacturer customizes their board for what they suspect their customer base needs.

As much as I loved my old EVGA X299 Dark motherboard, it's tiny active cooling fans were a huge pet hate as they made a ton of high pitched noise. I ended up removing them for that reason. The board stayed cool enough without them. Either way, I hope EVGA does not use tiny active cooling fans on its future Z790 motherboards.

I believe it is that elite members get to click auto notify 24 hours before anyone else. Meaning they are on the list and should receive an email with an invitation to purchase before non-elite members. It puts us in a queue that is also based on our EVGA score for placement in the queue. Now we have to wait for them to get more product for us to buy.

Ya you aren't alone, I think a lot of us were done dirty here. I've even called them and they said I was some how bumped from all my queue's and I'm basically SOL.
No 3090 Kingpin or Z690 for me I guess, I wish EVGA would fix this system, I am a former very happy customer, I have been buying their PSUs and MOBOs for ages, I still have SR-3 Dark build with SLI'd 2080TI kingpins and 1080TIs in their water blocks running strong as my workstation, I have a Z490 Dark sitting (old gaming rig, CPU bricked itself never bothered putting the new warranty CPU in) and a X570 dark that is my fun overclocked gaming rig right now. Amazing products and amazing support but this queue system is garbage, so bad it made me start an account for their forums to see if other people are going insane with this terrible lottery system.

They were more expensive especially when you account for inflation, I bought and still haver my SR-3... and it rocks still! Considering what it is I actually think this is a pretty fair price for a high performance Z690, just look at what ASrock, Gigabyte and ASUS are charging for their flagships, pure insanity!
P.S..... I may actually pickup the ASrock Aqua though... Don't judge me.

The SR-3 was super expensive at $2k but the original SR-2 was $579 when it was new which is about 730-750 dollars now. It was actually not that badly priced, only like $100 more than the single socket and the same as the black edition asus board lol.

Really cool and all, but the dual fans to push airflow over the VRM's is concerning to me, especially since they pull from the back side of the case into the system. It looks like any hot air expelled out of the back of the case would just get sucked back into the case by those two fans...
Not to mention, in my experience, small fans tend to be pretty noisy, and if they aren't they move very very little air.

How does EVGA score work when on elite member list for Z690 Kingpin?
the queue thread has someone tracking positions (self reported) and i believe also noting the lowest evga score to receive a notify email. as for how they calculate movement in the ordering based on score? i think it's as simple as... if they're sending 10 notifies and the list has 20 people, anyone outside of the top 10 moves up in the list before anyone with a lower evga score gets a notify. once the reshuffle is finished, the new top 10 get notifies.
