Hi all,

Any one know what other taxes and cost to pay if I purchase from EVGA directly?

For example, the 3967 costs USD 1,399.99.  What other cost is there?
what ever your state tax is and shipping. If you use an associate code you can normally cover shipping costs

I'd say that's fair enough. Although liquid cooling ain't my thing, not too fond of the idea of one screw up, one leak and the whole PC could get trashed. Seen too many horror stories involving liquid cooling and I am WAY too paranoid about stuff like that, I'd probably be checking it like three times a day or something lol.

I've had custom loops and hybrid systems for over a decade in both my personal system and ones I built for family members. Probably over 16 systems in that time, and I've never once had a leak.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it doesn't work, not for one second. I'm just saying I personally am WAY too paranoid a person to be able to attempt such a build. In all honesty more power to anyone who can handle it, I'm just speaking on my own insecurities.
I feel ya I've delt with a few systems leaks for people that going aio doesn't interest me. the gain is minimal compared to large air coolers so my paranoid self gets the better of me on thinking about an aio also. Custom loops look great and can really open up headroom but get pretty pricy so I've never ventured down that path.

To me it's just one of those extra points of failure and the low chance of risking my rig that I choose not to. Can't say I have not been tempted though almost bought that asus zaku gundam aio when it came out state side

Yeah see that's what I mean. It looks great, you can customize the look too, thing is I'm just scared lol. Honestly I would be interested in a refrigerated unit if they found a way to make that work. IT Engineer I knew (god rest his soul) was working on such a project for an experimental server build being done for a group of fire stations on the east coast. Sadly we didn't get into contact that often and the poor soul passed so I have no way of inquiring further about the matter. It sounded interesting though and promising, but knowing commercial use to the public we probably won't see anything unique like that in home use for many years. That and I can only begin to imagine the electricity usage in its current state like holy dip.

intel has that exact thing a cryo cooler and there have been other instances of it. But the risk of condensation is there

That's pretty interesting, thing I was being told about though is a unit that is attached to the outside walls of the case, cold air radiates down the unit and cools the case and condensation is dealt with strictly outside the case. Hence why I fear the wattage it takes lol. Knowing me I'm probably describing it wrong somehow though, lord knows my little hee hoo brain has a hard time wrapping around the more complex stuff, especially when I've only been doing this kinda stuff for 12 years with only 2 years of CNS schooling and not even on the record work either. I just diddle around with mine and my family's PCs every 6 to 8 years to keep everything upgraded and moving. Honestly I still find myself learning something new every time I do a build since we scarcely have the cash to front a whole new build. I've been on this maxed out ASUS M4N68T-M motherboard for almost 11 years now and I'm JUST getting around to be able to build myself a new rig if that says anything. So yeah I highly doubt I'm doing my late family friend any justice in the way I'm describing the unit they were working on though.

Not gonna lie, I was half expecting to end up with a 3070ti rather than a 3080ti since I got into the former only 53 minutes in and didn't get into the 3080ti queue until like 6 o clock that night. Weirdly enough though with the way the queues are building the 3080ti looks more likely in the latter months. Kinda strange how that works out but yeah there it is.

Yeah power supplies are still readily available, albeit slightly inflated prices, so there’s no reason to pass on the GPU just because you need a new power supply.

When it comes to quality in parts like the PSU always over prepare, that's my motto. Never worry about going overkill on a high wattage PSU when things like upgrades and room for future expansion come into play. This way you'll never get caught out like this ever again my dude.

Re: Introducing the EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti / RTX 3070 Ti Series Graphics Cards 2021/06/28 09:13:45 (permalink)
I have a problem that I wanted to post about on here to see if there were others that have/had the same problem and had a solution.

I recently replaced my RTX 3080 FE with the EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 Ti and my fps in Minecraft with no shaders or resource packs installed has dropped drastically. It went from 600 fps at times with maxed out settings on the 3080, down to around 30 fps with the 3080 Ti. I didn't change anything other than the card and all other games give me the expected increases in performance going from a 3080 to a 3080 Ti. I updated my graphics drivers immediately after upgrading as well.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated as I play this game a lot with some of my old high school friends and know that I should be able to run it at max settings with no problems. My current rig is in my signature/comment box below this post.

Edit: I should also mention that it isn't a steady 30 FPS as if it is locked by the game or NVidia control panel. I have the game set to an uncapped framerate and even when I turn VSync on, it doesn't make it any better. The FPS fluctuates between high 20s to mid 30s and there is a lot of stutter which makes it seem much lower. Every game other than Minecraft runs fine and the few 3DMark tests that I have run give scores that are about average compared to other 3080 Ti scores. I can run Borderlands 3 at 3440x1440 and get around 100 fps in the in-game benchmark at Ultra settings when my 3080 was getting high 80s framerates. I am going to try completely uninstalling the drivers and do a fresh reinstall since I didn't do that when I initially added the graphics card to the system.

Edit 2: I'm sorry for wasting anyone's time with this problem as it turns out that it really isn't a problem at all. I get 300+ FPS in the Realm that my friends are on as I did not realize that all rendering was done on the server side. I didn't think that Realms worked in a way that was similar to normal servers and thought that things would have been done by the client itself. I can deal with lowering my settings when I play single player since I know that nothing can really max out the settings without a larger amount of RAM and an enthusiast grade CPU.

Sounds like a problem with your settings. Check for frame limiters and/or vsync.

Check the Nvidia control panel setting for resolution. Make sure it’s maxed out for both the resolution itself and the refresh rate. V-Sync/G-Sync/FreeSync could also play a factor.

you could also reinstall minecraft?    just an idea.      Your first world problem of replacing your 3080 FE with your 3080ti FTW3 & experiencing performance issues ONLY w/Minecraft can be mind boggling for most of us.... who can't even sniff at the "add to cart" button to buy ANY 30 series Nvidia card since last year!    ; )         How does Minecraft look with the RTX ray tracing?  the videos look like a game that dreams are made of.... each night i dream of purchasing a 30 series GPU.    Someday when the semiconductor shortage improves...   = )
