I got a aorus master Z390 with i7 9700k with RTX 3080 Ti FTW ultra
Am I good, or need to consider upgrade to 11900k or 10850k with Z590 MB?
Gaming is all what's matters

What kind of resolution and refresh rate are you running? The higher your res, the less CPU power you'll need.

You'll be set at 1080p. 1440p you'll run in the low-mid 100 FPS depending on the game, Warzone for example. Lower graphic settings will net better FPS. 10900k will blow the doors off pretty much anything.

    I'm quite happy with my 8086k and a 3080 in 4k.

There might be games in which a better CPU would give few extra FPS but I don't think the difference would worth the effort.

My monitor LG C1 can go 4k@120hz I know that it's not optional to gain 120fps with that setup but 4k@60hz should be enough

You're good at 4K. Your 9700K won't be holding you back in most games since you will mostly be GPU bottlenecked at that resolution.

the gpu will be the bottleneck. srly, the only diffeence you will get buying something newer would be high power consumption; OC the chip and you'll get the same benefit. (pci-e 4 and avx instructions won't matter in gaming) :)

Thank you, I am on the fence on getting a new psu since his is a 750w. But nothing on his system is overclocked (his choice, not mine)

You'll have to test it, but I highly doubt the 9700K will give you any problems at 120fps or below, especially if you have good ram and/or an OC.  There are still 9900K's available for about $300 or so and you could sell off the 9700K, if you don't mid staying on Z390 and have a good MB.  I game at 4K120 VRR with a 3080 FTW3 Hybrid and 9900K, never any serious load on the CPU.

i'd highly recommend you research several sources.

i sort like testing games, does direct game play (not canned benchmarks!) comparisons. actually they just posted a i9 9900K to i7 117000K at 1080p/3080. unless you need those general ~5% differences*, since not all games are the same, you won't need to upgrade your platform unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

*there are plenty of sources around that show 1080p differences disappear at 4K, pretty sure gamers nexus has several videos on that - might have look at their history quite a ways back, like the pascel era.

you may eventually see that no matter what, either your gpu or cpu will always be a bottleneck.

edit: try googling cpu bottleneck and you'll see that there are claims every cpu will bottleneck a 3090 and since a 3080ti is a hairs breath away, seems you're on an impossible mission(?)

    just saying.

i7-9700K Processor has 8 cores, 8 threads, 12M Cache, 3.60 GHz up to 4.90 GHz, DDR4-2666. That's awesome. It must be a good match to the RTX 3080. You can also read complete buying guide about Intel i7 9700k from website .

Yes, the 9700K is good enough for a 3080 Ti. I was using a 5930K with mine before my GPU block arrived, and had zero issues with gaming. Benchmarks, on the other hand, not the greatest. Bottom line is a 9700K would pair well with a 3080 Ti.

    At 1080, yes.
At 1440p, it won't bottleneck much, but still bottlenecks a bit in demanding games. I had a FPS jump from my 8700k to 9900k at 1440p on my 3070.
    At 4k, it won't matter.

AVX instructions absolutely can matter when it comes to gaming, especially if your CPU is OC'd like mine with all cores locked to the same frequency. Battlefield V, for example, uses AVX, and it turns my 9900K into a mini space heater. I'm talking 60s-70s C on average, with periods in the 80s, and that's with my CPU being part of a custom loop.

I'm using a 9700K with my 3090FE, (so pretty close to the OP's Ti). Working out great, a very nice pairing for my VR setup.

I have a 3080ti with an i5-9600k @5Ghz @ 4k resolution. Gpu is constantly 99% usage in games I play so I doubt I'm being bottle necked even with an i5.

I have a 9700K at 4.9Ghz all cores & a 3840*1600 144 monitor & I mostly play Apex and my typical CPU usage is less than 50% in game so yes it will pair fine in that scenario. I briefly played WarZone & I was CPU limited in that game but I don't care for the game mechanics so I no longer have that game installed.

Also my card typically clocks around 2055 Mhz in game btw at 104% Pwr, 74% fan & 'curve" voltage settings via the OC scanner

At 0:15 they repeat the claim about the 3070 being more powerful than the 2080 Ti, which is still often repeated over on Reddit and argued vigorously by morons who don't own the card.  Just checked 3DMark, my personal 2080 Ti Hybrid on normal gaming overclock is still faster than every 3070 in the world. There's one 3070 Ti on subambient that's faster in PR by ~100 points and ~300 points over my personal record in TS GPU. LOL.

Was using my 2080 Ti at full OC in a spare PC for a while at 2,100Mhz with a i5-10400/B460/2666CL14 for 4K gaming.  Worked fine.

3080 Ti is only ~30% stronger with comparable OC.

The Intel Core i7-9700K Processor has 8 cores, 8 threads, 12M Cache, 3.60 GHz up to 4.90 GHz, DDR4-2666. That's pretty good. It should be a good complement to the RTX 3080. But of course, depending on your needs, what do you use the computer for? Maybe investing in more RAM is more beneficial than spending on the graphics card, or maybe you need more threads on your processor it all depends on how you will use the computer. I suggest that you revise the system requirements of the main programs that you will work on and also the opinion of actual users so you can make a wise decision that will stick long with you. here is the .
