Shortly after Intel released details on the 400w TDP Xeon Platinum 9200 56-core Cooper Lake processor many rumors popped up saying it was just for PR, to show customers Intel can be competitive and has at least some performance leadership against Epyc Rome. This rumor seems to have some truth to it.

    Those CPUs are on-motherboard and not actually socketed anyway so it's not really fair to be compared to a normal off the shelf CPU like Epyc anyway.

    You are correct as it’s a BGA part, but intel does use it for comparison anyways.
