I love how they mention how the i9 has support for Optane SSD support. Like anyone is going to buy a $999+ CPU and use a traditional HDD and a 32GB of Optane memory. Really I think Optane would do a lot better on like a Pentium or i3 system then being something supported by the i5 and up.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

Yes, but think of something like this:
    • M.2 or U.2 SSD drive for OS
    • Optane + HDD data drive.

    That makes sense to me.

Or maybe for a small workplace server, for storage this would make sense (lets say for example a architecture company to save and acess heavy projects faster than the usual HDD only).

    Case: Asus Z370-G Box / MB: Asus Z370-G / CPU: Intel I7 8700K / Mem.: 16GB (2x8) 3000Mhz Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 / GPU: GTX 1080TI FTW3 / A.I.O. W.C: EVGA CLC280 / PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750W

I think optane for the time being only works with intel products, they should open it up.

I just purchased a Firecuda drive for my steam games. Its a HDD with flash memory as a cache memory.
It was cheap, 80 bucks for 2TB and I can do 155read and 135+ wright, the full size drive is faster than the 2.5" drive Im using.

And Is asus still doing SSD caching?

Nobody still does SSD caching far as I know, it was a bad idea to begin with IMO. A consumer can just buy a budget TLC SSD and that will already use internal SLC or MLC caching anyway.

Can't wait to see what the Coffee / Ice lake generation of HEDT chips and second-gen Threadrippers will offer!
