I hope this is right thread.

I can't get PCIE 3.0 enabled on my PC without it causing major latency, audio, visual, distortions. I upgraded from a 3930k to a 4930k thinking I needed a PCIE 3.0 CPU to get it to work correctly.
Specs :
Asus P9X79-E WS Motherboard BIOS 1301
4930k                  CPU
2x EVGA 780's     GPU
PCIE is set to AUTO in bios, which gives me PCIE 2.0 in windows, if I set it to GEN 3, I get all kinds of problems, my question is, is this simply a Nvidia driver issue? I have also tried the GEN 3 Hack tool which didn't work, I dont know what else to do, any ideas?

Did you give 660force-enable-gen3.exe a try?

Yes, I tried that, I even did it thru admin/cmd line, doesnt change to 3.0 in auto, and even changing it to gen3 before or after force enable gen3, still have problems if pc runs gen 3. Ive reinstalled windows, installed only the GPUs and nothing else, still 3.0 doesnt work for me.

Are both cards in you x16 slots and no other items are in any of the other Slots. For Testing and also set you Bios to Gen3.
You may have other cards that do not support Gen3 installed like a sound card or you may have shared PICe Slots.

I do have a sound card in one of the slots, but when I reinstalled windows at first I just had only the 2 gtx 780's in place, in the x16 slots, best I can do to test it is, ill take out everything except 1 780 and try it in different slots to see if I can run 1 card in pcie 3.0. I'll let you know my results.

I'll bet anything you haven't updated to the VERY LATEST BIOS they have for that motherboard. Pretty much all X79 motherboards require a BIOS update in order to properly activate 3.0 and the newer processors on the market.

I am on the latest BIOS, the 2nd one Asus has had for this motherboard for Ivy Bridge  BIOS (1301 for P9X79-E WS released to public  2013/10/17)
I am also on the latest Nvidia drivers 331.58 WHQL
I've done the most basic stuff I can think of, I ran the PC with just 1 780 in it, with it in different PCIE slots, x16, and x8 slots, I've tried each 780. I think its some kind of driver issue, Nvidia or Asus, also im on all the latest chipset, usb, lan, drivers etc.....
I can take some screenshots of my PC in both GEN 2 and GEN 3, but if I set Gen 3 in bios, the audio stutters and the video, like in Valley benchmark will freeze up every few seconds. I've googled this problem alot but its been hard to #1 find anyone using this motherboard with pcie 3.0 working, or #2 not really sure what the latest news for x79 boards and pcie 3.0, so just asking here.

I am looking at the list of available bios updates for that motherboard and there is no such bios version under that number unless you mean bios version 3101. Bios version 4306 however adds support for the Ivy Bridge-E Series and that is the type of cpu you have. It's rather obvious once the research is done you're running a newer cpu on a older motherboard without running the required bios which will unlock better support for your cpu and Gen3. This is why you're running into issues activating Gen3. I would suggest you update the very latest bios and see if that fixes it.

Yea my bad. Google search tends to...suck at times. Have you run other Gen3 cards without issues? From my understanding currently Gen3 is a hit and miss due to Nvidia not properly supporting the tech. In fact I have heard that AMD\ATI cards are running flawlessly with Gen3.

I needed to disable SLI before I ran 660force-enable-gen3.exe re-boot then enable SLI before the NVIDIA Control Panel Showed Gen3.
A note about your i7-4930k you should not have to use 660force-enable-gen3.exe on this CPU, I did not need it on my i7-4960X and X79 Dark.

I still need it with my 4930K.  I think it has more to do with nvidia's drivers still being only "pcie 3.0 ready" than with Intel.
