While cleaning my gpu I knocked off multiple capacitors near the gpu die. All the pads are intact and I even have on of the capacitors in a bag. How can I find out what capacitor it was? The gpu is an evga 1080 ti ftw3. imgur.com/a/l2H0VQk

Need a picture of the broken capacitor and its location

It may still function with some capacitors missing.
Otherwise, your only option is to try to repair it, or take it to a shop to be repaired.

Should I even try to turn it on with them missing or could that damage it?

Might work or might make it worst. all Caps have info written in them that let you know what you need they not hard to fix just need be patient. if you like doing those repairs

These ones have nothing written on them. They are too small. The only way to know their capacitance value is to measure them with the right equipment. BigSaki Should I even try to turn it on with them missing or could that damage it?
It's not likely to damage anything.

How could I measure the capacitance value of them, can I just use a regular multimeter or are there special ones for small parts?

A "regular" multimeter doesn't work. You need a LCR meter. To measure them, they need to be charged and discharged, and their response analyzed. Whoever has the equipment to solder them, should have the equipment to measure them.

Ahh you mean those tiny Caps sorry but that is best left expert which I am not btw or Jeweler that understands electronics. That hard one.

It’s not difficult to solder those caps but you need the right tools and a good magnifying lens. The right tools are a good temperature-controlled soldering iron with small tip, tweezers, small gauge solder, flux remover, and a magnifying visor. Where you can find that is tougher these days. Used to be there were repair shops where the owner might have those kinds of skills. The only place I can think of where you might find that these days is maybe at a university electronics shop but they may or may not be willing to help. Other than that it’s the hobbyist community is all I know about. Lots of businesses will have the capability if they work with circuitry but may not be so willing to help. Whoever you find still may not be right for this, though. They need a station with anti-static workspace and need to wear a static strap. Soldering directly on the gpu carrier is a great way to kill it if you don’t know what you are doing. And it’s not the place to learn to solder unless you are ok with a full replacement being necessary. Those chips are likely capacitors and the card may run ok without them. But if they are caps, them missing from the circuit could cause errors on whatever lines they are conditioning. It may not be able to run as fast as it could before. It’s impossible to know what the impact of them missing might be without a circuit diagram. If any are jumpers, the card likely won’t run without them. But whatever you do, never power it up without the heat sink and thermal pads all properly in place. Those chips can volcano if they don’t have proper cooling. Best would be to send it to EVGA and just pay for the repair if they would do that and you don’t have access to other repair options. Also, good digital multimeters can measure capacitance and may be able to read those chip values. If you know which went where and the connection ends are intact, I’d try just reusing them.

That is not an option. EVGA does not provide a repair service. All they would say is that the warranty is void or expired and would send it back to the customer.

@ty_ger07 - I guess I should have been pedantic and said to contact EVGA first and ask about repair service. Even though I said in the line you quoted “if they would do that”, I guess you assumed I meant just pack it up and send it to them. I shouldn’t have assumed people would understand the need to do just a little legwork or checking on their own. It won’t happen again.
