Is there any way to make the GTX 980 Ti Hybrid Cooler that is sold standalone work with a GTX 970 SSC?

Playing most newer games like The Witcher 3 and The Division, the fan on my GPU gets extremely loud... I would very much like it to end.

There is a hybrid cooled 970 on the EVGA store, so I was just curious if the cooler was like a one size fits all for all EVGA GPUs or is it made custom for each model?

If the 980ti cooler that is sold standalone won't fit a 970, does anyone know if there is a plan to release the 970 cooler standalone?

---
Also side question... I have a Mini ITX build with a Corsair 250D.  I already have a 120mm all in one cooler for my CPU, anyone know if there would be enough room to mount the EVGA cooler right next to it, or at the very least lay it in there next to it?

Thanks

I'm not sure if the 980 cooler would fit, I doubt it actually. I found one on newegg but no reviews.

I would not advise just laying a cooler in your case. There doesn't seem to be much room in there and looking at the layout of that case I can see why your GPU may need higher fan speed to stay cool. Do you have the reference cooler or the ACX? You may want to first try using different TIM or setting a custom fan profile. What are your temps like and are you running an OC on the card?

I was talking about the actual EVGA Hybrid Cooler, the 980Ti version is sold standalone.

And there is enough room in the 250D for a 240mm radiator (not the extra thick ones, but a standard thickness one)... But I didn't know if the measurements for 120mm rads were off a bit, or do they include the mechanism at the bottom with the tubes in the 120mm measurement?

I have no OC other than the standard factory OC that comes on SSC.  My temps are like mid to upper 70s C in high end games.  I have a custom fan profile, it maxes out at 60% at 80C, it is at 50% at 75C which is where it normally rests... But even at 50% it sounds like a jet engine.

    EDIT:

And by "lay" it in there, I just meant if there wasn't enough room to mount it in the screw holes, simply set it next to the other 120mm rad.  With a fan in there as well it would probably be snug.

Something like this (the dvd tray can be removed or the radiator turned to bypass it, etc):

Oh okay, I understand a bit better. I think that will fit in there, the thickness is listed on the product page.

The 980 Ti has a bit of a different PCB layout as compared to the 970/980. I am willing to bet that the AIO cooler for the 980 would fit your 970. I'll have to look at the layout and dimensions of the GPU die.

Only 60% fan on 80c? That is not very much for that amount of heat. What are your temps like on auto fan? Do you have the standard fan shroud(like the one in the pic you posted) or the ACX 2.0 version(dual fans that exhaust into the case)?

Ignore the difference of the PCB layout.  The length of the 970 is an inch shorter than the 980, 980ti, and Titan X.  The PCB layout itself doesn't actually have any effect on whether the kit would work.

980, 980ti, Titan X Hybrid, they all use the same shroud:

970 Hybrid uses a different shroud, although the AIO itself is the same.

The 970 hybrid is physically different, unfortunately.  I am surprised that EVGA never made the kit available.

^ That is what I was looking for. If the shroud does not line up it wont work. I am really surprised that they released this so close to the new line-up coming out. The length is kinda related to the PCB layout

Looks like you are stuck with aftermarket AIO from other brands if you want to go this route.

It never gets to 80c.  Highest it ever gets is about 78C at 50%.  The 60% is just there for if it gets that high and if it does I am sure it would drop back down shortly after kicking up to 60%.

It is an ACX 2.0 cooler as well.

With the default fan profile, the fan doesn't even kick on at all until like 60-70C and then it blasts off and is extremely loud.

Also to the guy above, thanks for the info... That makes me kind of sad that this isn't an option... My card is very loud, like so loud that I can hear it through my case, through my desk, through my over ear headphones, and through the explosions and shooting in my games.

You may need to alter the fan setup you have there. According to the spec that case has a 250mm fan under(?) the GPU to bring it fresh air. What if you swapped it around to an output? The ACX cooler vents most heat into the case and only a small amount out the back.

What is wrong with mid 70s for temps?  When I first got the 970 those temps bothered me because my GTX 680 hardly ever went above 60ish... I called EVGA support thinking I got a card with faulty thermal compound or something and they said the high 70s temp was perfectly normal because of the factory OC.

Nothing is wrong with them, it's just, why did you want the hybrid cooler if not to lower your temps?

Edit: Durr, it was too loud for you. Lower temps will, in part, solve your fan decibel issue.

I don't think changing the fan would do much as the GPU already sits flush with the side grate.  So any air coming out of the ACX 2.0 is going straight out the side of the case.

That is why it sounds so loud. Unless I bump my cards from 0 to 70% I can't even tell when it kicks in. I also have 5 x 120mm and 4 x 200mm fans. I keep them at 75% though as 100% is pretty loud. Unless you have positive pressure in your case the air isn't really going to come out on its own.
