Hi, I just bought a third monitor that is 3D that I want to hook up to my main two.
I have two 24" 1920x1200 monitors and now one 23" 1920x1080 monitor.
I want to game on my 23", and use the other two for programming and such.

So my monitors are positioned like this:
[24"]  [ 23"]  [ 24"]

I have 2 580's in SLI that I thought could support 3 monitors. I have my monitors hooked up to my GPU like this

GPU TOP        - [23" monitor] [24" monitor]
GPU BOTTOM - [24" monitor] [nothing hooked in]

When I try to enable three monitors, no matter which ports I plug em into, it says this graphics card can only support 2 monitors, please disable SLI.

Have I just shot my self in the foot here?
I thought three monitors was possible if SLI?

**EDIT**
Also when I get my 3D monitor enabled, in nvidia it says its refresh rate is 59 and I can not change to its 120. Yes I am connected via DVI-Dual Link.

This might help. 3 monitors in SLI is not supported in the configuration you've cited

As Hemi stated, you cannot have SLI enabled and have 3 monitors with the current 3 monitors you have. The only way to have 3 monitors with SLI is that they must all be the same native resolution and refresh rate and they must be in a "Surround" grouping.

    That link confuses me.
It does not even show a three monitor solution.

It says I need add a third graphics card to get more than 2 displays...

you just go buy a cheap card to run the 3rd display rather than return it. Any cheap card will do. There is a $20 7600GT in EVGA's B-Stock that will power it just fine for desktop use.

Yes. In fact you could just use it to power both of your other monitors and just use the center monitor connected to your SLI array.

Yeah, I'm amazed they haven't gotten a way around that limitation in SLI mode yet.

The only way to run 3 monitors on an sli setup is if they all have the same resolution, same refresh rate, and same sync polarity.  500 series on down that is.
Nevermind:  I didn't see any responses until I posted this.  Guess you got your answers.  lol
