I'm sure a lot of people are stuck at home... Before all of this stuff went down, I built a PC for one of my buddies at work and it kinda tossed me down the rabbit hole. I was trying to save him some money and get rid of some of my spare parts in the process. All he needed was a motherboard from Microcenter to pair it up with my i7 9700K and 32GB of 3600MHz CL18 RAM. We grabbed a brand new Gigabyte Z390 Aorus PRO WIFI board. I got everything all nice and tidy, hooked everything up exactly like it was supposed to be... Fired up the PC and it wouldn't boot. I found out it would only boot with RAM slots 1 and 2 and only run in single channel mode. I got it up and going for a Windows install thinking if I just install the RAM in the right sequence it will eventually work... it didn't. I had an ASUS STRIX X299-E GAMING and found a good deal on a i9 9900X so we switched it up and went that route. I was able to get rid of about 4 case fans, a motherboard, memory kit, and power supply. A few weeks later I was kind of interested in finding a decent motherboard for my i7 9700K and 4266MHz RAM that I have not found my self needing to sell yet... So I found some good deals on few parts to get it all put together to keep myself a little busy on a fun project.

Here are pictures of my buddies build:

One stick's LED was not operating at the time of the picture... I didn't snap another one after I fixed it lol

Here is the spec list for my build:
Motherboard: MSI MEG Z390 ACE
CPU: i7 9700K
Power Supply: EVGA P2 1000
RAM: G.Skill 4X8GB 4266MHz CL17
Video Card: Not really sure yet...
Hard Drive: Crucial MX100 512GB
Case: Anidees Crystal Cube
Radiators: EKWB 280mm and 240mm
Case Fans: 5 Anidees RGB fans, 2 Noctua Redux 140mm and 1 Noctua Redux 120mm
I'm waiting on the water pump, fittings and tubing to finish up the custom loop.

Here is what I have put together so far:

Main PC | Secondary PC
Intel i9 10900K | Intel i7 9700K

MSI MEG Z490 ACE | Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Master
ASUS TUF RTX 3090 | NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super

Well... I went off and bought a RTX 2070 to finish it up. I can't get it to boot yet... Hoping it's not a bad motherboard.

Well... I had it functional with a mini RTX 2070 and got real sloppy on running my soft tubing lol

I just couldn't pass up a good deal on a 50th anniversary RX 5700XT. I have a EK waterblock coming in for it this weekend. I have some work to do on my case... Going to have to make some cuts for my water lines. Maybe i'll be proud of this one.

If you have some spare parts still, use it for Folding@Home with Team EVGA.  We could use MOAR powa captain!   ...and of course, it's for a great cause including COVID-19.

Glad to know Im not the only one who randomly snags parts simply because it's too good of a deal to pass up.

Great work.  I've built several systems for friends that were in need of a PC mostly from spare parts lying about.  Granted, nothing at the level of a 9700k

Well... something didn't go right with the install. EKWB doesn't have instructions in the box anymore. They also always add a bunch of extra screws and washers you might not need. I'm pretty sure one of the mounting points or more were over torqued too... I spent the majority of my free time for the last 3 days trying to find any and all material where I could reference my PCB to others to see if I was missing anything or if I messed up somewhere. I found a tear down of the RX 5700XT but I found one difference just glancing at the back of the PCB and comparing it to mine. Not really sure what it is. I'm going to take some time to figure out what I want to do...

Yeah, happened pretty fast. I was happy with it until I found out a RTX 2080 is about it's limit before you need more CPU.
