Crap, looks like frequent crashing with even a +100 clock boost in games when VSync is OFF.

From what I understand disabling v-sync is not advised, something about these beasties go beyond what the APIs expect in frame rates and buffers get confused. Most posts I've read havesaid something like "I was getting 176fps and it crashed"

That's not correct. Disabling vsync is not wrong or dangerous at all. It just makes hardware work without limits exposing unstable overclock, simply because gpu is not restricted to render 60 or 120/144 fps.

What I mean to say is see if it crashes at stock before you condemn the OC.

I just installed my card, did some testing and i could tell that even i paying more to have a FTW, i paid a monkey thinking overclocked above average, it does the same OC standard of any pascal, expected EVGA could release a bios with at least 1.25V so we could enjoy the full power of FTW.

Very frustrating buying a FTW for the first time and find that the manufacturer does not select or configure their best designs for better overclocking capability.

Well, they kinda do. Thats why there is also the FTW DT, for chips that didn't meet the stable OC requirements to be FTW.

Got my 1070 FTW Watercooled. Gonna copy a bit from overclockers forum: Was able to push 2114MHz from GPU and 9234MHz from the memory (Samsung). Maxed the voltage bar in MSI afterburner to +100mV. The card runs at 1.031V. Wish for custom bios one day, as the Power% never goes above 90%. Is this normal?? My CPU is a i5 3570K@4800MHz K-boost off.. Can't get EVGA precision XOC to run :D "0xc000007b" Firestrike run: For me +10 more MHz on the memory will present artifacts. +20 will crash the card in Fire Strike's second graphics test. The core stays ~40 degrees at all times and does not throttle at all. Samsung can go all the way to 9300MHz effective frequency. Hynixes aren't that good :/ You can check which you have on front page of nvidia inspector More details in my case mod thread: http://www.overclock.net/t/1540564/completed-fractal-define-xl-original-case-mod-and-water-cooling/10#post_25492066 PS. if your game crashes at 170FPS or something like that, you can still kill the vsync. Just add a FPS limit to the game with rivatuner!

What? 2114 MHz on the core with 1.031V while overvolted? Mine overvolted needs 1.09V and can't even hit 2000 Mhz. Whatever never heard of a chip getting these clocks with that voltage.

The voltage bar seems to do nothing. The setup is stable with +0 on voltage and it gets exactly the same voltage readings. Im using msi afterburner because evga precision xoc wont start up :/ edit: Maybe I don't have the newest beta of MSI afterburner..

Using evga precision ox Mine have Micron memory, at +300 it shows terrible artifacts, but works fine at +200 - i see no reason to try and find that sweet spot between +200 and +300 since it will make no noticable difference.. To be honest i was expecting to get samsung memory, but lots of "premium" models are coming with micron that barely holds itself. Core on the other hand, works +130, getting 2125-2134 with boost.. Gotta test it some more before i claim these clocks perfectly stable, but anything above that just crashes. I've managed to play few Battlefield 1 rounds, ultra settings, 1440p, around 100fps with no crashes. What i find strange - power limit doesn't seem to do a thing, it keeps at 90% tops. upd: been playing games all evening, it just sits at 2139 1.094v.. throttles to 2126 if temperature rises above 71 or so. I've set up the fan curve so fans are spinning to 60% if temp reaches 60c, i can barely hear it anyway and it helps to keep that 2139 stable with no throttles. I am not using K-boost, but the only downside i have - card cant enter idle-mode by itself, after playing a game i must restart my PC and not start precision tool in order to make it use idle clocks.

FTW's TDP is so high, that power% never comes close to making the card throttle. This I welcome! Seems that with so much power reserve, the 10-phase buck regulator is built to last. As I edited the MHz/voltage graph, to rise the voltage to 1.093V, I get ~2150MHz. Was able to run fire strike with 2190MHz, but something was wrong, as the graphics score didn't improve.

Is there any chance that micron memory idle stability issues will be adressed in the future BIOS updates? Because, it seems to be pretty stable under load, but when you try to apply clocks at idle - you get checkerboard artifacts all over the screen, hang and reboot... There is a trend, i am not the only one who noticed that. I know it's not faulty, but i really would like to get the maximum out of FTW card %) i've noticed thad under load it works stable if you set +530 offset. It's pretty nice..

I'd be interested to know what 1.) your boost clocks out of the box (without any oc whatsoever) and 2.) with power, temp and voltage maxed out are (but without touching the Mhz slider). For comparability I'm using the agressive fan profile. You can view the pictures when you right click on them and open them in a new tab. Mine are (after 10min warm up in heaven): 1.) 1962 MHz 2.) 1974 MHz

What program are y'all using to do these over clocks? I'm using afterburner and bumping mine up +50hz on the core and memory. Running Prime95(small fft)(most heat) and running the Heaven benchmark maxed out, tesselation 100℅ etc. And my boost i guess is sitting at 2138 and memory at 4154, 37 c max temp.
Is this not a good over clocking software or is precision the better route?

K-Boost didn't work in 6.0.6 properly, even when enabled it would still fluctuate core clock and voltages, so I've given up on K-Boost for now, and just left settings on my 1080 F|E to stock voltage, with +Power Target 120% and a +134mMhz OC to core, and +500Mhz memory clock with an extreme fan curve. Happy with my results on this card. Looks like you guys are getting some pretty nice OCs out of the 1070's FTWS, good to hear.

matthewfarmery I don't really see false advertising here, there are a few things to note, cards might not be able to achieve high OC results, even from the same manufacturer, You have the DT model (1070 / 80) that fails testing, which I think proves that not all cards can make the grade. Some people might only be able to push the core and memory by a tiny bit, while others can push their gcard a bit more. basically the silicon lottery. So not really sure why you are saying there is false advertising?
I say its false advertising when a company has a review done on there product and it shows clear as hell that it has Samsung memory then you get a micron and its not performing like the review states that's false advertising. http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/95446-evga-geforce-gtx-1070-ftw-gaming-acx-30/?page=2 This review is linked to EVGA video card and it shows the info. They should have a review done on it with the micron now see what happens. If you bought a car for example with a Samsung motor and it was reviewed as a fast car. Then you go and spend a lot of money on it and it has a micron motor in it made by Pinto manufacturing. And runs like crap you would be made. Same as the video card trick they performed.

I have noticed something on my FTW Hybrid's. I have 100+ core 400+ mem with 100% voltage and 100% power target / 83c temp set to priority. I get better (800-1000points) 3dmark fire strike leaving it at those settings then ramping up the power target/temp to 122%/91c. I am getting 25,717pts (25,500-25,700) with a 5820k @ 4.4ghz - 2400mhz 64GB DDR4. Not really sure how to overclock on GPU boost 3.0 nor what it means with extra power target.

Using MSI Afterburner, I set voltage to 100% and power to 112% with 80% fan. Set Core clock : +100MHz , Memory clock : +400MHz Passed 3DMark FireStrike & Timespy without any trouble. Micron chip isn't that bad. I love my FTW card.

I know I'm late to the party, but I've only had my card for a few weeks and built a new rig. I feel like I may have won the silicon lottery with my GTX 1070 FTW. I wanted to keep power/voltage at stock to not wear the card down, and I've achieved a stable +100 core clock (just over 2100 MHz) and +400 Memory Clock, which could likely go higher but I didn't want to push it any more. Needless to say, I'm very happy with my scores. -Ben

Hey. I have a Question. How dangerous is the +100% Voltage Setting in Precesion X for long term using ? Is it even worth using it ? And is it normal that Precesion X dont show any changes you make to the Voltage ? It still shows 1062 with my 1070 FTW. Newest Version installed. My FTW runs with 2100/4500 with some but not all games i play, so i want to try if a bit more Voltage would help. Thanks.

When you say +100% voltage I assume you mean you entered 100 in the voltage setting. That is 100% voltage, not +100% (which would be 200% voltage). I believe putting voltage anywhere near +100% (200%) would immediately kill your GPU. the highest precisionx allows is 112% I think. My current stable OC is 105% Voltage, +100 Core clock (about 2100Mhz), and +400 Memory Clock. I just replaced my Motherboard and CPU from a Haswell i5 to a skylake i7-6700k, and my new Heaven Benchmark is 2976. The processor doesn't make a huge difference, but clearly made some difference. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. -Ben

Well, i mean the scale on the left on the starting screen , it goes from 0-100 and its % and not +mv like in the older precision X versions. Badly expressed but i think you know what i mean. Btw, 100% is max there, i think you talk about powertarget.
