So after following Hybrid threads for the past several weeks while waiting for stock I've noticed a lot of complaints about the manual being a little bit lacking. I've watched the gamersnexus youtube videos, but I was hoping someone else had a good guide and/or video for the ti version. Anyone have a suggestion? I'm fairly good with PC hardware, but this is the first time I've really tried to pull apart something and reconstruct it. Thanks

This is one for the 1080, but it's essentially the same. One thing this guy doesn't show is whether his stock thermal pads were still on the card after he pulled the cooler off, and whether you have to remove any stickers from the ones that come with the kit. Either he skipped this step or he just slapped the thing in there without looking first, so that's something to look out for. https://youtu.be/29yQ7VpEk58 This one here is over an hour long, again, it's a 1080 GTX Hybrid install. This dude gets kinda angry while doing it, again, after watching it, I still had some questions, but those are all answered once you get the kit yourself and use common sense to stick it all together. I am getting both of my kits today, so I am pretty excited. https://youtu.be/wRHF3J4Yz4M Happy watching.

Yeah it wasn't all that difficult even with the poor instructions. I watched the GamerNexus video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ-Y08enNG0&t=187s on how to take it apart... and their part 2 video on modifying the 1080 kit to work with the 1080 Ti was also helpful just to see how it all worked. That... a few lines of the instructions and common sense was all it took for me to get it together. Nothing difficult just time consuming. You'll need a precision screwdriver set and a 4 mm socket or nutdriver.

Just did mine last night. Didn't prepare and dove in. Manual does suck, if you call it that. It's more of a generic reference guide than an instruction manual. I didn't overtorque the backplate screw, but one of the re-used ones snapped while light tightening. I just used the new screws as needed since the lock-tite was still visible on the OE ones. Stock fans and EVGA controls are good enough. System is quiet. No pump noise from air pockets. I may consider ML120s just for the white LEDs, otherwise, ambient in the upper 70s f, BF1 and Heaven stayed at 49-51c using conservative fan curves. If I turn my system to 100% fans on everythings, GPU ran 47-49c. Didn't do a lot of testing since I finished around 1am. Took my time on the first card while second card was quick. Hopefully, I'll have more time to test and play tonight. I really like these "turn-key" kits. They work as expected and run fairly quiet. I don't need to drain, disconnect, re-fill, and purge air everytime I swap things out or do maintenance. Much better than air cooling GPUs IMHO. Especially 250w per card. My rating for the kit . My rating for the EVGA instructions .

Setting your system fans to 100% won't do much of anything to change the gpu temps. The radiator fan is fixed @ 100% all the time connected to the gpu header. Your cooling won't improve at all without replacing it. I'm actually going to change out my fan tomorrow night with a NF-F12 PWM I having laying around and see what it can do. Here's a pic of mine :)

Mine might be an unusual case, but the radiator fan on mine was pretty loud..by far the loudest thing in my system. So, I slapped a Scythe AP-14 on it (have like a dozen of various speeds) plugged it into the mobo and set it for DC at 95%. Basically inaudible. The highest temp I've managed is 49C running Furmark. That is about 2C cooler than the stock fan. Compared to the stock FE blower, wow.

My Asus fan management connects to all my fan hubs and controls PWMs and DC 3-pins, too. It will increase my intake and exhaust fans to allow more air changes for the interior case. I have 14 fans, not including the Hybrid VRM blower and 120mm operating at 100%. The increased front and bottom intake volume and cooler temps help cool my hybrids mounted a few inches in the case. Thought about changing to PULL ML120 LED or PUSH/PULL using ML120, but it would be diminishing returns. Would look very bright, tho. Need to play around with it before I throw more money away. I really like how quiet it became vs FE or FTWs.

Quiet for me is a relative term. The Hybrid kit fan does have a little bearing noise, but my case muffles it. I've had DIY pond pumps back in the early days. High RPM fans on heatsinks with peltiers. I really liked my vaporchill, but Asetek went 100% water and not support for the newer sockets. (Had my 3930 at 5 Ghz on vaporchill) Wish we had the cooler temps of PNW. Hot and humid.

Dexterryu So after following Hybrid threads for the past several weeks while waiting for stock I've noticed a lot of complaints about the manual being a little bit lacking. I've watched the gamersnexus youtube videos, but I was hoping someone else had a good guide and/or video for the ti version. Anyone have a suggestion? I'm fairly good with PC hardware, but this is the first time I've really tried to pull apart something and reconstruct it. Thanks

I hear that a lot. I spent 35 years in the deep south and that hot and humid just sucks. I've been in the PNW for the last 6 years... and the mild climate just wins. Here we are mid May and our forecast is for highs of 55-60F for the next 10 days. What's not to love about that? LOL The computer loves it too...

For those of you wondering about the extra screw, there was a nut included in my kit, i used it to fasten that last screw on the backplate. It took some dexterity, I held the nut under the mid plate with a flat tweezer and then screwed the screw in from the other side. It was a perfect fit. What gave me the most trouble was routing the fan cables. First it was pinching on the side closer to the fan connector, i then routed it under the tube side of it and it was fine. Otherwise it was a simple install. Time to mount it!
