LOL!, Somehow I KNEW You would be around watching from somewhere John!  Yeah, I Know I have a LOT of OC'ing Work/Techniques to catch up on after all this time being "Out of the Game", But as you see, I'm Still using some "Outdated" Hardware (Possibly Except for the 780 Classy's), so it's going to take me a while to figure out all these New Products before I Jump back in and spend WAAYYYYY too much $$$$ to build another New Rig Again!  Actually, It Looks like My Old i7 980 / X58 is where I'm Losing Out from the Newer X79 / LGA2011 Systems, But I'm Still Glad to be Back Again and having some Fun! Now if I could Just Pull Nate away from his Milling Machine.............

Yep, still around. Just do more laptop benching than desktop benching. :)
Glad to see your still around though! And it has been a while. also...not really the board holding you back as much as say the vbios. If that is the factory vbios...chances are you could start there and gain a major lot just on that alone...but im not sure...im suppose to go bench some 780s at my microcenter so we shall see just what i think i know. lol

JOHNKSSS, welcome back to the convo! I too was wondering if you were around. Nate's here but not benching.... Nate, reorganize the garage, so you have your benching rig near you mill, like maybe across a walkway from it so you can just roll back and forth on your stool/chair and bench while milling. Wonder what other vets are lurking? Q56 you around? Any other vets want to join the party?

Well Dave, I Don't Really Think I can Push this i7-980 Much More than 4.738GHz on just Ambient Water Cooling. As a Matter of Fact, I Couldn't Push My 2012 i7-980X past 4.818GHz on 0 degrees (32F) CHILLED Water Cooling! LoL!!

I might have a little something this weekend if I have time.  All of my real OC gear is at home, at school I just have my main rig on ambient water. (i7 3820 @ 4.750GHz + GTX 580 Classified HC). However, over summer I might do some DICE runs. Not gonna do any upgrades until I can get an 8 Core OCable CPU at least. SLI maybe, but I want a heavy hitting CPU, no more brand new quads for me. If I do any Vantage runs this weekend, I'll shoot for ~33-34k.

Sweet, Sounds Like You Have a Good Plan in Mind!  Unfortunately for Me, I Just put My Third 780 Classy in the 759, and while it OC's better in 3-Way (Higher Scores) in Fire Strike, for whatever reason it actually won't OC as much as just TWO 780 Classy's in Vantage!  PITA!, I'm at a point now where I don't know whether I want to Sell Them and count my losses or What!

Just looked at the database at hwbot, and 3 way in firestrike should give you a better score but not by much. 1000 or less points maybe. Here's my laptop vantage score I ran tonight. http://www.3dmark.com/3dmv/4936732

That's the Whole Problem, When I added the Third Classy I went from a Score of 17619 (2x780's) to a Score of 21278 (3X780's) which I thought was Great, But My VANTAGE Score went DOWN by 1000-2000+ Points (3x780"s) from My High of 58915 (2x780's), And I'm Using a Modded LN2 Bios that allows a Voltage of up to 1.35V. For Some Reason, I can't get the same OC's on the Three Cards (without crashing) that I could get on the Two Cards, and I have tested each 3 Cards both individually AND in 3 different 2-Way SLI arrangements that produced similar High Scores in the high 58K's, But ANY 3-Way SLI Arrangement has reduced the Max Card OC'ing ability resulting in Lower Scores of about 56-57K! In the Past I have ALWAYS Gained at Least 2K or Higher added Scores in 3-Way/4-Way SLI! I can Only Guess that My X58 759 MB and i7-980 are Not "Up to the Task" of handling OC'ing with 3-Way 780 Classy's, and I'm going to have to go to an X79 System!

I've had the Power Slider from 105% - thru -130% in 5% increments with very little change in the Scores.

Yes, a TechInferno Modded Bios is in them Now.
I Tried a Skynet Modded Bios before, But it got even Lower Scores, so I switched back.
Right Now I've gone back to testing with NO OC's with Stock Air Cooling on Each Individual Card, and if I don't see anything Wrong After that, I will Try 2-Way and then 3-Way again.

OK, Here are the Results: As You can See, Each Individual Card Scored about the same as the Other. In 2-Way SLI, There was a 10,000+ Point Jump Higher than a Single Card! In 3-Way SLI, There was LESS Than a 1500 Point Jump Higher than in 2-Way SLI! As Far as I am Concerned, These GTX 780 Classifieds Do Not Like this X58 MB / i7-980 Combo in 3-Way SLI, and Don't EVEN get me started on the Fact that NOBODY can Run these in 4-Way SLI without using a special "Script' to enable it, AND having to use Outdated Drivers (No Higher than 320.49!)

Yeah, Don't Tell Me...................I Know I "Rant" Too Much about the "small" Things, But I guess that's just Me!  After All, When I just Looked, I STILL made #66 (2X) and #25 (3X) in Vantage(Performance) in the Futuremark Hall of Fame, But All these New MB's/Graphics Cards (With the Associated Problems that appear to be happening with them) and How They are SUPPOSED to work has me thrown for a Loss.

Im in agreement. ditch the board and chip. Here is what cha do. You go hit the store and get a board cpu and memory and a good heat sink for now. About 950 bucks(asus/evga/gigabyte - 4930k - 2133 ram or higher - a nice 60 to 80 dollar heatsink or just use you water cooling loop.(that's what i do. I dont even turn the chiller on anymore unless im doing something serious) or so. You can get it for testing and if you decide to keep it...Then all is good. You will gain more from that over all than 3 780's. You can always go grab another one of those later. If you can't do that. then still get the new setup. anything sandy or higher is gonna do better than x58 unless you running ln2 and that is still a leap.
