Just upgraded my Dell Optiplex 740 with a EVGA Geforce GT640 2gb and two of my favorite older games look quite odd . Here's what Nascar Heat looks like farm6.staticflickr.com/5478/9762398543_4135582e4c_o.jpg and here's what Sportscar GT looks like farm4.staticflickr.com/3771/9762331044_5a9aa359f3_o.jpg , missing cars I've tried drivers on the disc it came with and 301.42 & 301.54 and still have the same issue. Also another Nascar Heat player is having the same issue with a GT 610.

Don't use the drivers on the disk that came with the video board. They are outdated. Go to this website and enter your correct operating system and download the drivers from there. http://www.geforce.com/drivers Always select 'Custom' install. Never use 'Express' install. Only install the video driver and PhysX unless you need the 3D drivers. Never use or install GeForce Experience. Place a checkmark in the box to 'Perform a Clean Install'. Reboot after the drivers are installed and everything should work fine after that.

Sadly most older games won't work correctly on modern hardware, they have to be patch to be compatible sometimes

Have you tried setting compatibility mode on the game shortcut? right click the game shortcut, choose properties, compatibility tab, check the box, and choose another OS in the drop down list.

Go to your in game video settings and set Anisotropic Filtering to 16x and Anti-aliasing to MSAA-4x. What kind of video board were you using before?

Let me ask you this: What resolution was the game running at prior to you getting the 620 GPU? And what resolution are you trying to run it at now? I'm mainly talking about the Nascar game as it's 13+ yrs old.

I was just using the onboard graphics before I got the GT 640. "" Let me ask you this: What resolution was the game running at prior to you getting the 620 GPU? Nascar Heat may be 13+ years old but some modders found a way to give it new life with HD graphics so resolution can be whatever the player wants it to be from 640x480 - 1600x900 (my monitors max resolution). I've also contacted EVGA techs so hopefully it can be resolved. Thanks for the reply's

The only other thought I have is, have you tried installing the game again since you put the new GPU in and updated drivers? If not, maybe give that a try. I'm thinking maybe it's a DirectX issue. With any luck, re-installing the game might install the DX version (DX7 I believe) needed for your Nascar game. Other than that, I'm out of idea's.

Well I gave up. Tried everything the tech guys said and what was posted here and nothing worked. I'll probably keep the card to use in a HTPC as it played some of my newer games flawlessly. Thanks for all the help & suggestions guys :)

Here is an older version of updates for your DX files. It supposedly has some versions that are not included in the latest DirectX installer. It has worked for other users trying to get older games to run in Windows. http://www.microsoft.com/...d/details.aspx?id=8109
