I just built my first PC with all new internal parts aside from the CD and HDD. I am new to the Desktop temperatures as I am new to PC Gaming. I built this computer mainly for MineCraft and movie watching mainly for now. My EVGA GeForce Gt 610 2Gb ( Part Number: 01G-P3-2615-KR ) gets hot while playing MineCraft. I couldn't tell from playing as there was no lag or pixilation, but according to the program CPUID HWMonitor it was at 97C. And I was told that is hot so I stopped for the day. The next day it made it to 101C and I stopped agian and decided to research. I found out the max temperature is 102C. I downloaded the EVGA overclock just to see if the temperature I was getting was wrong. It wasn't. I wire tied, to the case, a 120mm 70 ish CFM fan in to blow directly on the heat sink of the GPU, and it still hovers from 94C - 98C. Is there something I did wrong? Specs: OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit CPU: AMD FX-6100 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor MotherBoard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard Memory: Kingston Black Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory Case: Rosewill Blackbone ATX Mid Tower Case Power: Corsair Builder 600W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply

Hello and Welcome to the EVGA Forums Glad you like new card!! The temp problem maybe you have setup Fan Curve which you can create your own Fan Speed graphic!! Can you please remove CPUID HWMonitor that may cause conflict between Precision and HWMonitor the temp so If you can keep EVGA Precision X then do setup Fan Curve!!! Let us know

A GT610 is not really designed for gaming, it is more for just office PC's so higher end desktops that do not have integrated graphics can hook up a monitor. The only thing you could try is to reapply the TIM (Thermal Paste). If that does not work, return the card and get something better like a GT650 Ti http://www.evga.com/Produ...aspx?pn=02G-P4-3653-KR Edit-Forgot about the custom fan curve coolmistry mentioned, but you strapped a fan to it, so I doubt that will do anything.

Even though the GT 610 is not necessarily made for gaming, it shouldn't be getting this close to thermal shutdown. If you are comfortable doing so, you can try reapplying the thermal paste as was previously suggested. Doing so will not void your warranty either. If it doesn't help, or you are not comfortable replacing the paste, contact us and we can get you started on an RMA.

Thank you Guys! I will keep all suggestions and advise in mind. EVGATech_JaesonW I bought the card from TigerDirect, will this effect the returning process in any way?

Did you buy it after that date, if so, ignore it and continue. Most likely you did buy it after that date.

If you have not registered the card and uploaded an invoice you will need to do that before you can start your RMA process. Otherwise, you can not continue with the RMA, or you have to do it through the guest RMA and that will ruin your regular warranty from the purchase date. The Guest RMA is for those that bought the card second hand and only have the 3 year warranty from the day the card left the factory.

You won't have any issue with an RMA on a 600 series card from Tiger Direct. We can definitely help you with an RMA on that. Register it if you haven't, then follow the link coolmistry provided earlier to email us for a ticket. Or you can call us at 888-881-3842 and we can get you a ticket over the phone. Calling us is the quickest way, as it can take a couple hours for an email response if we're backed up.

Yesterday while I was posting I was away from that computer, but was getting the processes ready for RMA. I did change the fan curve, and found out I can lower the graphical quality of the game. The temperature mainly stayed in the 62C - 67C and only peeked once at 71C. Is this alright operation temperatures? Also will this card be able to handle 1080p movies on a 32" to 47" tv at 60 Hz without getting too hot?

Glad you did use Fan Curve which help to keep cooler with your GPU Card!!! Yeah your temp is great much better than before!! Maybe you don't need RMA the GPU Card then if you are happy with Temp then no need RMA!!!! Your Temp reach at btw 62 to 70c ish which is good same to my two GPU Cards is average to 60 to 75c depend on games!!!! You wouldn't worry about the temp if you still using Fan Curve!!

71c is a perfectly average operating temperature for a 600 series card. 1080p has the same number of pixels regardless of the actual screen size, so it won't strain the card harder than a game will. A pre-rendered movie is a lot less demanding than a real-time rendered game. It sounds like you should be just fine running like this.
