Re: GTX 980TI Hydro Copper Stuck on boot (Q-Code B2) black screen (2 Cards)

I've got an answer from my ticket, that there are no BIOS updates available, my card has the newest version...
Hmm, but it changes nothing, that I can't get any output from my brand-new videocard.
They told me just to delete my old driver, and clean my system with ccleaner, at least to remove my old card from the device manager.
Okol, I will try it once again, just for EVGA, but I've done all these steps a few times yesterday. I've also tested my GTX 980 Ti Hydro Copper at my local dealer, completely new setup, with the result, black screen and postcode "b2". -.-
So, any constructive ideas?

doerte Same Problem here 980 ti Hydrocopper dont start need a link for new bios file
Submit a support ticket and request the proper BIOS for your video board from EVGA support. There may be differences depending on your serial number.

Probably not what you're wanting to hear but if you have the same problem in a different PC it might be time to request an RMA replacement.

I've got an email with an new BIOS file, and surprise, surprise, after flashing my GTX 980 Ti Hydro Copper everything went better than excepted! For all other user with the same problem, here you got my EVGA BIOS file, I hope this is ok. Flashing and everything else what you'll do with your card without any guarantee, you do it at your own risk, but this file has saved the life of my EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hydro Copper! Hmm, I can't attach a link to download my file. http:// ul.to/j4dxccq2<-- BIOS (remove the space after h t t p ://_ and you can download it)

You can't post an active link until you reach 50 posts. Insert a space after the http part and we can remove the space and view the link.

Hey C.Knura. Greetings from Stuttgart. I had the same problem with "Q-Code: b2". I updated my card today with the above BIOS file. Worked fine :-) So no need to wait for the file from EVGA. But its ofcourse your desicion. Good luck for flashing your cards. Cheers Philipp

Tho I don't have a 980Ti Hydro Copper, the problems described look about the same as I have, cards not booting up properly. Is there a flash-update for a normal 980Ti?

@ 100110 Hey. Sounds good and gives me Hope. But i wait until the Support tells me to Flash the Cards. Because I saw that it might effect the warranty. So its better to wait until they say so. Perhaps the Cards get another Bios Update or so or whatever. But I hope that the support tells me today what I have to do. @ Supremest. "Cards not booting up properly" could be everything. At first you should try the standard Stuff. other PCIeSlot, other PSU, other Systembuild, Reset CMOS etc. I would not flash the normal 980Ti if you don't know which Bios is running on it.

i have been at it since dec 24th....evga..."no sir not the gpu must be the board". i have spent at least 8 full days and don't want to say how many more euros on psu ram cables drives all new system evga x99 classified 2 hydro coppers and all sorts of weird error but not a single frame. to be fair the first mobo did not display this beahviour. that one hung around at 62 then went to A2 the second one i had to push to this behaviour by changing ram vendor. also in the second mobo have not tried different gpu cause just could not be bothered unfilling refilling unfilling ach awr request submitted. not going to pfaff around with bios updates on 900 euro gpu's

I've been having this same issue with 2x hydrocopper 980ti's... I'm hoping to get a chance to try the BIOS update later. This is the worst possible card to have such an issue as by definition it's always going to be in a water-cooling loop which makes all the faffing around approximately 10 million times more irritating, give or take a few million. After spending the better part of a week messing around with this, draining a loop after having spent hours getting it fully bled, constant messing around with temporary water-cooling rigs, moving cards around, updating Motherboard UEFI's, changing lots of settings in the UEFI, buying a PSU tester, buying a new PSU to test, buying a new motherboard to test, spending hours trawling forums to try and find similar problems and finally I run out of ideas and it takes a full RMA request to get through to someone who tells me about this BIOS issue (ironically only a few hours after my second new motherboard's improved diagnostics gave me the b2 breadcrumb that lead me to another thread on ROG forums where this was the issue). Sorry EVGA but this is nuts to me - I appreciate the quick responses I have had through the customer service channels, but you absolutely MUST make sure your first tier support guys are aware of this issue, especially since it's not new - if they had been able to point me in this direction in the first instance I could have saved myself hundreds of pounds of buying new gear to test and week of unbelievable frustration. Having them respond with what seems to be a default "disable windows updates/uninstall the drivers/install latest nvidia drivers" is ridiculous for a card that won't POST and is a less than useless suggestion.

i started building december 18th. rma x99 classified upon evga support suggestion what I tried 3 psu's all cables chassis front pannel ram kist 2 optical drive three hdd's strange thing for me was that i had to push the motherboard with all these changes to the final b2 revealling post code. for sure the worst time i have had in a build. but also now the most rewarding. once win 10 was running on the intel 750 correctly with uefi settings according and the intel nvme driver! still evga support is quick to respond and very forthcoming. stilll what have appreciated a fancy sli bridge after all of this. i know i decided to spend the money on troubleshooting and this is the game with system assembly. however i do think this was a gaff where the poor consumer who got hit should be rewarded. good pr stunt also .... hint hint

Even just an apology for the turkey chase I ended up with thanks to their normal tech support not being aware of this would be better than nothing! I managed to get both GPU's flashed by using the IGPU - don't forget that option guys! Might be easier than using a separate discrete unit for some. I did one at a time just to keep things simple but I believe you can do both at once if you want to. Success! Please take on board my previous comments EVGA... you can save others the expense and frustration myself and others on this thread have gone through simply by putting a note with your tech support against anyone having POST problems with a 980Ti hydrocopper. You clearly value your reputation in customer support, so I hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears.

i can confirm i had to notify the support tech of this thread. i opted to have them flash the cards as i had spent most of my spare time for approx 2 weeks solid on this. especially at 900 Ypos per gpu

Hi Guys, I got exactly the same issue with two different cards. I solved it by using the BIOS provided in the email thread. Many thanks for opening this thread and providing the solution :) I was getting crazy doing all possible tests my side so be sure the VGA was not in cause ...
