Hi, I just purchased an EVGA GTX 980 Ti Superclocked 6GB (Reference) edition today to upgrade my old graphics (a GTX 645 YES LOL)

I am curious as to whether I need to upgrade my power supply before running this card.
Currently running a Seasonic G-Series 550w Power Supply(G-550/SSR-550RM)
single rail with 45A on the 12v Rail

Nvidia recommends a 600w minimum power supply.

However will my current 550w power supply handle it fine (With enough headroom)?

From what I see on review sites, 388w so far seems to be the tops, which puts the psu at approx 71% load maximum. I don't know if those figures are good or bad, Otherwise may have to spend another $159 AUD on a G-650w psu.

Rest of PC Specs: (mini Itx)
-Intel Core i5-4590
-8GB RAM
-120GB SSD
-1TB HDD
-Deep Cool Captain 120 AIO Liquid Cooler
-4 Fans
-Asus H97I-Plus motherboard

Thanks!

    Its a 250w power supply. Go buy a 750.

550W would not be enough. you'd have little to no headroom especially for any sort of overclocking. PSU prices are much lower these days and there are plenty of good units that are gold/plat level in the 750-850 Range that are currently on sale. I think EVGA's PSU sale is still going on.  The 850 G2 is a great choice. (I use one)

If you're more on a budget the NEX750 is also a nice alternative at 69.99 (Amazon)

Isn't 750w/850w wayy too much for just a single gpu setup?

Its up to personal preference and PSU rating. Personally I'd want to be slightly overkill on voltage than to risk undervolting. You do the latter and you're going to be on these boards going ",my graphics card is having issues."

it is but it allows you to expand if you wanted to. 750 (probably) and 850 would give you enough for SLI assuming that's something you wanted later on.  The price difference these days isn't that much greater for some models so I just opt for a higher watt psu that gives me options.

It would technically be okay but a 700, 650, or 600w would be a lot safer. It's a 250W card so your PC should run 450-500W under load. But most PSU's fail if they run at 90% for months of daily use and that would be unfortunate if you fried your MoBo and CPU.

In Australia, the price differences are HUGE from the 550-650 range jumping to 750w+ (at least 50AUD to minimum 100AUD).

I have always been an ITX User so will never SLI, apparently the 550w is enough to power a regular Titan (Kepler) according to Silverstone's psu charts, so i'm assuming the 650w will be plenty for my 980 ti. Thanks again for the feedback!
