Hey all, I have a weird concern about my GTX 780. It all stemmed from some odd behavior in Arma 3, where my VRAM usage hits around 2.6GB then all of a sudden the game flushes all my GPU memory and has to reload all the textures. This causes a noticeable stutter for about 2-3 seconds while it rebuilds the VRAM cache. I see it on my Rivatuner OSD drop from ~2.6GB down to like 700MB then quickly stabilize again at around 1.2GB. This lead me to check my 780's available total VRAM when I found this... DXDiag is only showing 2696MB of VRAM total on my GTX 780. All of my older GPU's actually showed HIGHER GPU VRAM total than what the card is sold as. What's the story with this? Is this how all GTX 780's are or is one of my memory chips dead on my card/missing? I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate so I know it's not a memory addressing limitation. Anyone else finding their GTX 780 shows the same?

This is in line with what I've always experienced with all other GPU's. DXDiag actually shows more than the card is advertised as having. This is the first time it's shown UNDER specifications. And combined with my startling Arma 3 GPU VRAM issue... I'm a bit worried that my card is indeed missing memory.

Yah I think dxdiag is way off from reality. I just check it and it's like twice what I have. I use Everest Ultimate for my diagnostic and it is showing the correct amount. I have 670's though

In several of the above configurations, it seems that SLI memory is not detected as shared between adapters. My 690 is reported as having around 4000MB available, and HeavyHemi, up there with his manly config, has two TITANS which about equal his reported value. It seems any VRAM, as well as allotted shared memory are all designated as available.

Is there some kind of way I can test my GPU VRAM like MemTest86 did? I just want to make sure all my VRAM is working just fine and that the issues with Arma 3 capping out at 2.6GB before resetting are just an Arma 3 problem.

Makes you wonder why so many tech support people ask for DXDiag dumps

It's nothing to worry about, it's a known bug with DXDiag. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2026022 I guess they never got around to fixing it with Win7. Either way it won't affect games in any shape or form. Use GPU-z or HWInfo64 to get the correct values. Just for the record Win8 reports my total GFX memory as 10Gb, 3Gb dedicated and 7Gb shared.
