Gateway FX6860-UR10P I have this computer and currently gtx670 FTW OC in the computer, runs great. I have acer motherboard standard with this computer. Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bits with Motherboard Bios p03.A3 date is middle 2012 The latest driver I could find for my motherboard is installed already. My computer mgf date 2012/5/14, not even an old computer. I have bought GTX 770 SC ACX and it will not boot the computer, you get the typical gateway bios screen delete for bios and f12 for boot menu but you can't get into either with the gtx 770 and then it just goes to that blinking cursor in upper left cornor of screen, I wait half hour and it never goes past this cursor. This is not a bad card, 1st one did same thing and this is the 2nd one so I know the card is good. I did uninstall all nvidia drivers through the control panel and then reboot computer went into bios menu and reset to defaults and on reset exchanged my gtx 770 still same thing it won't go to windows. After that I even taken out the battery off the motherboard for 20 minutes and replace it still gtx 770 will not boot. I install gtx 670 ftw sc and walla everything works great. I think the gtx 770 may be incapatible with the computer but that is really hard to beleive given 98% people have the card work for them. Even evga supports says they have no clue advised me just return it and get my money back. My boot order in bios is 1)efi 2)hardrive 3)dvd drives, etc and goes on from their, I was thinking if this is UEFI card bios maybe the boot order is making it hang up? Maybe efi can't be first? I don't have any onboard graphics as far as I can tell. I tryed everything I can think of and I can't get this thing to work, my only solution may be get another computer down the road, any help or ideas are welcome, please help. I've read all the forums on the net that I could have and no solutions, just other people who have given up and return their card. Can't find anyone with my computer and win 7 that has gtx 770. And my powersupply is 750 watts more than enough power so it isn't that.

Change EFI to Legacy inside the BIOS.

Sajin is correct. That should fix it. Also look in the BIOs and make sure that no internal graphics are in use (if applicable).

There is not legacy option in my bios. And I don't have another computer to check the bios version to see if it is C3 Bios.

Only option then is for you to rma the card and have evga update the bios on it, the older bios had lots of compatibility problems with motherboards and the card you got probably still has the old one on it.

Well I had to take the computer to a shop to have them install the updated video card bios since I didn't have another computer to do it with. Still doesn't work, even with the updated video card bios the card hangs at the opening boot screen of the computer and goes to a blinking cursor. The computer shop said my bios is probably out of date, I have p03-a3 motherboard bios 4/18/2012 Win 7 Home premium for my Gateway fx6860-ur10P. Bios? Maybe a new motherboard is the trick at this point I question wether updating the motherboard Bios would even do it. I guess I'll have to call the computer shop and see what they can do as long as it don't cost to much. Unless anyone else thinks I can update this bios somehow to something that works without frying my computer.

What are the known specs on your power supply? In fact what are the amps on the 12 volt main rail? The 670 requires 30+ amps while the 770 requires 45+ amps. Yo could be running into power supply issues.

The computer store said the card runs great, they booted the card up on a windows 8 computer flashed the bios and said it's a great card. The guy also said sounds like your motherboard bios is old so call us if updating video card bios doesn't work. They gave me their business card. So the card works for sure.

I just checked and the 770 requires a minimum of 600 watts and has a total power draw of 250 watts while the 670 requires a minimum of 500 watts with a total power draw of 170 watts. You might be pushing that 750 watt psu you have to it's limits. Do you have a spare psu laying around? Also are you running the system with any overclocked components like cpu? A bios update might be what you need but there are always other things that can issues like a oc or the psu.

Your PSU is a great unit. And has double the power you need to run this system. Just out of curiousity, you did plug in the PCI-E power connectors right? lol

From what I could find that power supply is about 3 years old. Couldn't find anything about the amount of amps it has on the 12 volt rail which is important for newer graphics cards.

I have 3 6 pin connectors and a 6pin + 2pin = 8 Pin connector. I been using one 6pin and the 6pin+2pin. I could use nvidia 2 6pin to one 8pin connector and see if that makes a difference but evga said when ever possible they recommend connecting the card directly to the powersupply cables and only use the adaptor pcie cable adaptors as a last resort. I couldn't have connected them wrong.

The computer has one PCI Express x16 slot is 3.0 8gb, I've heard some have had to put their card in a PCI Express X16 2.0 slot but mine only has the one slot.

I think your best bet would be to contact gateway support and see what they have to say about the whole situation. The motherboard just isn't working with the card.

EVGA can't fix that your motherboard doesn't work with the GPU. That is one draw back at times of OEM boards. They have more issues being updated with newer peripherals and the support for them is usually poor if it isn't something that is OEM. There's no incentive to waste resources for an issue that is only going to affect a very small group of users. There are a couple of BIOS updates but they appear to be specific for UEFI under Windows 8 https://support.gateway.c...ault.aspx?modelId=3725

Well the GTX 670 is a good gpu so I'll stick with that and this computer for at least year or two then explore my options for new equipment later when technology advances more, it's not that big of a gain going up to that card so i'll live. Your right seems like prob only maybe few percent out of 100 are having my issue. Anyways I tryed so acer oem motherboard sucks as it turns out.

How is it EVGA's fault when nobody can get it to work? Your problem is certainly not a common one. I have a feeling it's low knowledge on your part and something is missing in your details, but that's just me. Classic case of pebkac....

Classic case of OEM motherboard. I've found a couple of others having the same compatibility issue on the same system. Lighten up.

Heavy Hemi is right, OEM systems have way more compatibility problems then retail motherboards do, cause the OEM systems are designed to run with the hardware that comes with it, with very high lack of support for anything else. Thats why prebuilt systems sucks. Custom Build is the only way to go.
