hey guys ive had this issue for 2 days now, my computer is the p7-1010a and i just installed a RSP Raider 650w Power supply for the GTX 770, and now ive gotten the GTX 770 and booted it up, i get stuck on the HP logo screen which also give me the option to go into some boot menus, but its all frozen. i re-inserted my previous graphics card (GT 545) and it works 100% fine. and also during the boot freeze, i get a few beep noises the display cuts out although my computer is still running even the GTX 770 was running, just doesnt boot with the computer fully unlike the GT 545
ive seen a few people on the internet have the exact problem with it solved, but never it showing how it was solved nor do they respond :/ so i was hopping if anyone has been related to this problem before that yous can help me get this beast of a card up and running in my computer :)

You might need to try a better and larger power supply. raider are not the best supplies. you should never go with the minimum sugested power supply. especisally with cheeper power supplies. When asking for help list your intire sys spec it helps us to help you . it is best to look for a gold or platnuim rated power supply. and at least 750w.

You may have to update your mainboard BIOS. You may have to contact HP to see if there is even an update available. These 700 series GPU's are the new high end tech and older cheap OEM computers may not support them. Also that PSU is a low end brand. You should return that unit and protect your new GPU investment with a quality PSU such as corsair/seasonic. Corsair CX series 650 or 750 are very affordable EDIT: forgot to mention...did you connect the PCIE 6 and 8 pin power cables to the card?

with the power supply issue, i put my GTX 770 in the PCI slot and put my HDMI cord into my on board graphics, and i was able to upgrade my graphics card to the latest driver. so im thinking that if i didnt have enough power, i wouldnt of been able to do that, because all the fans and stuff run fine, its just when i put the HDMI into the graphics card, they just wont boot together and continue to beep :/ also yeh i know what you mean, at the time i was 50 dollars short of the PCU for corsair 750w so that was sort of a big loss to me i guess, but yeh at this point im sure the power should atleast be able to run the graphics card, just not as efficient as the high end such as corsair. also with the BIOS matter, my bios version i originally had was AMI v7.14 and i updated it to the latest i could find which was v7.15 yet it really made no difference unfortunately, and also when i did try to boot the graphics card i did turn off intergrated video on my bios if yous were wondering.
yeh it also frustrates me to know that a local computer hardware store manager i was talking to didnt have any idea what the problem was :/
all along ive been thinking it would well be the bios setting or just the motherboard itself and im not too sure if its compatible, but it seems to have the right slots on it
and sorry for such a big post, but here are some specs of the computer if this helps: Processor = intel i7-2600 @3.4 GHz MoBo = Pegatron Corp. Model 2AB6 also says IPISB-CH (not sure if yous need that) PSU = RSP Raider 650w silver OEM GPU = ( Nvidea GT 545 3gb) New GPU = (EVGA Geforce GTX 770 2gb GDDR5) Currently using Windows 7 64bit 16GB Ram
also id like to thank you guys on using your time to help find a solution to my problems, i really didnt think anyone would help me, much appreciated :)

I would try this....Pull GTX 770 out of computer. boot into BIOS and enable on board graphics card. save changes and boot into windows. download latest Nvidia WHQL driver 331.82 and save it to desktop (do not install driver, just save it to your desktop). Unplug your modem/router from computer so windows update does not automaticlly install any GPU drivers. uninstall all onboard graphics drivers and software. Reboot into windows. You should have "standard VGA driver" installed. Shut down the computer. Install GTX 770 carefully. Make sure the card is seated in the slot properly and the 6 pin and 8 pin PCIE cables are connected and "clicked" in the ports of the card properly. Turn on computer and boot into BIOS and disable any settings for onboard graphics card. Also...look to see if there is a setting for PCIE X16 slot, make sure its set to auto or enabled. Save changes in BIOS and see if you can boot into windows. If successfull, turn off all background apps. (antivirus etc.) then install Nvidia drivers in custom mode with just graphics driver HDMI audio and physx and make sure clean installation check box is selected. Reboot after installation. hopefully that works. If not...I would try a different PSU. You could have gotten a bum/DOA unit. Corsair CX650/750w are under $100.00. Or...its remotely possible that you could have gotten a DOA card. You should confirm the the 770 is working by installing it in another computer. If you dont have access to another computer, take it to a computer shop and have them confirm it works.

the amount of times ive tried this procedure, its now getting to me im so stressed atm, i have seemed to have figures out that a large amount of people are having this problem and that a firmware update is required for the graphics card itself in order for it to be capable of a heap of motherboards, i guess its just a matter of time for the support team to give me the update, otherwise i might have to give this back to the store i bought this from,i really thought this would have been a simple procedure of just inserting another PCU and card in a computer thats compatible wit hthis sort of upgrade, but nuh i have to go through this crap because the company wont update the firmware before sale or even give us a link on the site :/ thanks for your help i seem to have done the same method as what you've taught me but i guess bad luck comes to the poeple who know alot :/

I have the same issue as well though that wont make you feel better. Got a brand new build with a gigabyte 990FXA-UD5 motherboard with a amd FX 9370 ZCpu and corsair 1866 ram. It is running with a seasonic 1000 watt PSU and it locked at the logo. Pulled everything out [ALL USB and down to barebones and benchtested] and tried dif sticks of ram as well as some other speeds I had lying around. I even went so far as to stick a older black cpu into the board. The thought it may have been the Gtx 770 never occurred until about the last thing I tried. I took the 770 out and stuck in my gtx 480 that I am pretty sure draws more power then the 770 and away it went. I updated the bios on the motherboard to the newest version and when I put the 770 back in it locks up at the logo splash screen again. I was about tom try a new PSU but I am waiting for word from both Gigabyte and EVGA as to thoughts. I am pretty sure now after all the post about locked computers from this card that its the cards bios. So now I await to see if I get a new bios or RMA the card or the motherboard..Frankly I am so choked I wanna RMA them both. I did try the 770 in a intel board I have running in a dif computer and it did work there. SO NOT the card

yeh mate they need to update the bios to the card for more compatability with the older motherboards, they seemed to have done it with the GTX 780 but not with the GTX 770, and i sort of annoyed, its been 1 1/2 weeks since i bought the card and im still having the time of my life trying to resolve this problem, i really dont think this was work my time, im so angry man i just hope we get some sort of update because returning it would be a pain in the ass :/ never doing this again with a OEM computer

We have sent a request for updates to both evga and Gig but have not received a reply as of yet. Are you saying that you have heard nothing from anyone in 1.5 weeks? If that's the case what are the options as you need approval to RMA as well Im thinking. Thanks for the reply. We need more with this issue to conglomerate in one place so maybe we will be heard. I see that there is a update but it only says its for fan noise.

You might want to see if there is a legacy mode on the motherboard and try that option. If your card works in another PC then it's more than likely a motherboard problem.

Further update. So I have the motherboard booting into windows 8 properly with a gt480 graphics card and all is well and I have set all I can in the Bios to legacy mode. I have tried everything dif ways and I cant get the 570 past the logo splash. So just for ****s and giggles I thought what the hell I would try the 570 on the second PCI slot in the board. There are 3 but I think the second 2 may be 8bit off the top of my head but I would have to double check that. So after moving the card to the second slot I fire it up and it gets past post and all the way into win8 where it crashes and windows says there is a problem and needs to collect some info and reboot. It reboots and its right in windows fine..SO is it the card or the Mobo????..Thanks all for your patience in this matter and any help you may give. System specs as running now are Fx 9370 CPU GA-990FXA-UD5 REV 3.0 updated to latest bios 2 Corsair 8gig 1866 ddr3 ram Nvid gtx 770ovclocked Graphic card running in slot 2 windows 8.1

wont work in the 8bit slot or the other 16 bit. Replaced with the 480 in slot 1 16bit and up and running again.

thanks for the replies guys, yhe basically for the past 2 weeks i havent recieved any valuable help from anyone, other the nthe fact tht i know its 110% my motherboard because the cards fine, yeh the update that was 'MEANT' to fix the compatability problem, just let me down and didnt boot at all either, and yeh ive only got 1 PCI-E x16 slot so thats a downer for me i guess, basically the only thing i can do now.... is either wait for and update from either the motherboard or the card itself, or return the card but i got this for a christmas present so i really dont see that happening, :S
and for the egacy mode in bios, i set it just to legacy mode, and it just does the same ole gay **** as the other 99x ive attempted to boot the computer.
i dont know about you guys, but ive never been so stressed and so desprate for a fix to this popular problem that people are having, ive been hearing people with the same problem on different motherboards and they get bios updates for it or even the new updates on the cards bios works for them, i swear everything thats bad... happens to me especially when it comes to computers. :/
if someone out there is looking at this post thread and knows the perfect solution to this and it works.... boy expect a big cheque in the mail or something decent because not even my local computer hardware technician knows a what the deal is, he though it was PSU, i was like no way, he tested with 1000w and bam same **** goes, PROVED AN I.T WRONG jesus christ :'(

The answer to the problem is simple. If there are no BIOS updates available for your HP OEM MB.... which is most likely the case with such a board. Then simply replace it with a MB thats KNOWN to be compatible with 700 series cards. Such MB's can be had for around $60

Yep...mATX Z77 mainboards can be had for $40.00 to $100.00. Your OEM board is not supported. You can always return the card for refund also...

does not help much with a new rev 3 990FXA-UD5 board though as its does not seem to support the cards either. I have another 700 card coming over today. A gigabyte gtx 770 so should be interesting to see if it works. If it does perhaps I can trade the owner for mine.

last post. Evga offered me to RMA the card but that's another 35 bucks out of my pocket for postage. My bud brought his computer over as he has a gigabyte windforce 770 card so I took his and tried it in my board and it booted up fine. My evga card however would not post in his computer. I have now gone and got a gigabyte 770 and will run it in my computer and have given or sold I guess at a reduced price my card to another member of my family for him to use in his intel based board as it works fine in that. Long story short is evga has a bios issue with that board and it should be addressed but I for one will not be buying another evga product as this has taken over a month to solve and dollars from my pocket.

You have a 2600k. you don't need a new CPU. You need a Z77 motherboard, which supports a 2600k. They are 40 to 100 dollars on newegg for a mATX version. It is not EVGA's fault. Its your crappy OEM's fault. Any other manufacturers GTX 770 would most surely have given you the same result. You should have returned the card for refund when you found out the mainboard was incompatible with no support from the OEM.

Dremora123 its been 2 motnhs guys and still using my ****ty 545 GT gard, while the GTX 770 evga is sitting to rot in the corner, i cant afford new parts honestly, i will learn to never buy evga again aswell... NEVER needa get new MB that is compatible but i have 0 clue what and + doesnt this mean i need new CPU?? MORE MONEY GONEY **** EVGA
Have you not read my posts?. it is not just his motherboard but several motherboards that the evga board will not work in but yet other vendors 770 boards do.This is a EVGA issue. Sorry you are still screwed Drenora. Thankfully I had the resources to get another vendors card and someone with a compatible board for the EVGA 770 or I would be mine would be a doorstop as well.

Sorry, but this doesn't make sense. Reference gpu's are all the same. All vendors do is put their stickers on them at most, and sometimes they don't even do that. Unless we're talking about a non-reference card, if one works in your machine, they should all work.

Yes I agree and the Evga 770 was in fact the last thing I thought of and pulled on the board. If you follow the thread you will see I ran a barebones system on a bench and tried multiple part and card and ram and motherboards. It always came down to the evga 770 card. It is not that uncommon if you look around the web you will find many more with the same issue. When we took the evga card and stuck it in another guys board that was running a gigabyte 770 card and it iced his machine and we took his card and stuck it ours and it ran that pretty much capped it. It is a bios issue with the EVGA board and it should be fixed but it seems a few don't matter..alas I have had several evga cards in the past but I wont be having another in the future nor will anyone I know after the crap I went through over the month of sending my mainboard back for RMA and losing cash on that only to have a frozen post screen again. Thank for your comments and I would not have thought this either and I have been building since my 486DX2 and never had such grief.

Not sure why but after the last post I thought about the bios thing so checked around and very fast I found this on a site.... GoteleibDecember 9, 2013 1:27:10 AM Not to my knowledge, I had the exact same issue as you with my rig, couldnt even access the motherboard's BIOS/setup as it wouldn't complete POSTing. I got lucky and had a buddy who's build was compatible so we put it in his system and it booted no problem, Downloaded the bios from ASUS on his PC, it was just an .exe and it updated the videocard then we took it out and put it in mine and everything booted. My mobo is MSI p67a-gd65 my best guess from trolling through forum after forum trying to find a solution is that the Earlier 7xxs BIOS may of had issues with the backwards compatibility of PCI E 3.0 to PCI E 2.0 ... but I dont actually know if that is accurate xDDD ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I guess perhaps I should have tried to flash the evga card with a gigabyte bios perhaps or asus or whatever and it could have saved me a lot of hassle. I would try that just to see but as they say at this point don't fix whats not broke. Again if such is the case its a bad Evga bios compared to other vendors.
