Hey all, I am thinking about buying myself a new GTX 770 for my watercooled rig but I need to know which cards have reference design PCB's so I can match it up with a full cover block. I'm gonna go with one of the 2GB models and will be overclocking it so factory o/c's don't matter to me. I haven't really decided which block to get either, thinking about the EK-FC770 Acetal & Nickel or Watercool Heatkiller. Any help would be appreciated...Thanks!

Are you looking at solely EVGA models? All 2GB models that are not FTW or Classified are reference. Any full cover block for the 670 FTW, 680, 780, or the 770 will fit any ACX model or blower cooler (even the reference TITAN cooler) 770. Also, I do not believe the 4GB and 2GB 770s have different PCBs in terms of waterblock fittings, because the TITAN and 780 have different amounts of VRAM but coolers are interchangeable. I know you say you aren't interested in the 4GB model, but if anyone else reads this they might want to know.

Thanks for the quick response Solar Trans. In the end its gonna come down to price and the best deal. The warranty doesn't matter and will be voided as soon as I remove the stock cooler. I just want a something good and reliable which is why EVGA is my first choice.

No disrespect intended towards Mr. Solar Trans....but  unfortunately! the 770 uses a different PCB than the ones found on the 680 or 670FTW.
Here is the 770 Reference PCB

and here is the 680 Reference PCB

As you can see...The caps at the far right of each card are arranged differently. Therefore; A full cover block designed specifically for the 770 would be your best option.
You can go on EK`s website and use their Configurator to match up the right block for a particular card.

Well considering you are looking to watercool a GK104, a good option would be to buy a 680 Classified Hydro Copper off of eBay. This would retain a majority of the warranty (3 years from original purchase date from manufacturer, and any person can use it it doesn't matter how many accounts it's been registered to or how many times it's changed hands. The ONLY benefit you get from buying a card directly from EVGA or an authorized retailer is Advanced RMA, and you can still do a standard RMA), and you would have a card with quite similar performance to a 770. If I were in your shoes this would DEFINITELY be the way I'd go. The only benefit of a 770 over a 680 is higher memory speeds, and with a 680 classy it would be easy to OC the memory to 770 levels. You could probably Find an HC 680 Classy on eBay for a good price, or there may be one here on the forums.

EDIT: Just saw your post ransan, and I do believe I stand corrected. Only the TITAN and 780 share the same PCBs but have no resemblance to the 600 series. From what I have read, the 670 FTW, 680, and 770 could all share full cover water blocks but after seeing those pictures I see that wouldn't work. I'm not sure why I said that 6 series blocks would work on the TITAN and 780, probably because it's really hot right now XD.

    Hi

I've got the basic EVGA 770 - ref 02G-P4-2770-KR which comes with a blower. This has the reference pcb. I'm using it with the EK 770 waterblock - mine is the acetal + copper version. You have to be a bit careful as some board partners are apparently using the old 680 pcb but as someone has mentioned the EK Cooling Configurator is very useful. My EK block  didn't come with blanking plugs so you need to provide your own. When fitting there is a single screw and nut to reinforce the I/O bracket connection to the pcb. This is much easier to fix before fitting the block contrary to the instructions. It is a nice slim block which covers all the pcb and I get great cooling. The acetal + nickel block is identical with a nickel coating over the copper but I don't think you can really see it with the block installed.

    Hope this helps
