Thought it might be a good idea to do a thread like this as I'm seeing many with motherboard compatibility issues on this card

If your board has a compatibility problem even with the latest bios, List the Brand/Model of the motherboard here, also if you find a known fix list that as well please.

So far the GTX 780 has a firmware for better compatibility to boards, but the GTX 770 doesn't yet.

edit: most of these compatibility issues was fixed with the C3 Bios for GTX 770, contact evga tech support to get it if your card doesn't have it.

    GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4
    BIOS: F2

Holding at POST, Old card works in new system, but when using the 770 the system locks up. Can't find any solution, getting us p***ed off!

    Edit:
The 'holding at POST' has now been fixed due to a BIOS update to the Beta 'F3p'.
Managed to install intel board chipset drivers which fixed the system locking up.

Although now I have another issue with the card not getting detected!
In 'Device Manager', the card does not show at all. It just says 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter'.
When trying to install any version of nVidia drivers, the installation finishes but says 'Installation Failed'.
I can't find any way around it at the moment, but will update this post when I do.

    Edit2:
Okay, I have finally figured out the final part (this covers the previous Edit).

In the 'Device Manager' go to the 'Display Adapters' Tab and expand it.
Right Click on the 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' and click on 'Update Driver Software...'

I recommend using 320.08 Drivers for this card, the 320.18 are unstable & the newly released 320.49 still have issues in certain games, eg I had a fair few crashes in Company of Heroes 2.
The drivers can be obtained here:

Click the 'Browse my computer for driver software' option and locate the folder with your nVidia drivers in.
Let it run until the installation is complete, then do a system reboot.

Once your system has rebooted, go to the 'Device Manager' again and expand the 'Display Adapters' Tab.
The EVGA GTX 770 SC ACX should show up now!

If you decide to uninstall the 320.08 drivers with the nVidia uninstaller, to apply new drivers you MUST use the same process of installing with the Device Manager instead of the original nVidia setup or you may run into issues.

     Great News !

Jacob sent me a PM over at one of the other forums & " For all you present EVGA GTX 770 owners that have the initial launch Bios 80.04.B4.00.70 " he stated the latest Bios revision number will be  "   80.04.C3.XX  " for the 770 EVGA manufactured cards.

So i would assume any folks encountering any compatibilty issues can contact EVGA support and be sent the latest Bios to hopefully resolve any motherboard problems.

I can finally now order one of these EVGA 770 cards with confidence since i happen to be one of the unfortunate owners of the Intel DEZ68BC Mobo.

    Thanks again Jacob !

My low clock issue is solved finally 2013/09/08 20:06:26 (permalink)
I have a problem with 2 EVGA GTX 770's in SLI. When running Kombuster or OC Scanner GPU1 is at 0% & GPU2 is at 100% load.

It works fine if I just have 1 installed. Don't know what to do :(

    GIGABYTE Z87X-UD4H

    SOLVED:

Wow it was something so easy to fix...I found out that SLI only works 100% efficient when running in full screen mode.

If anyone else is getting much different clocks on each card go to "SLI rendering mode" option in NVidia CP and make sure you have set it to "Force Alternate frame rendering 1" or 2, but 1 works a little better for me.

    Phew!

It is normal for the GTX 770 4GB FTW ACX (04G-P4-3776-KR) just be able to output one screen during the post when you have multiple monitors plugged in? I'm currently using both DVI-D and DVI-I. Only DVI-I is currently being display during the post. The DVI-D will only display once Windows 7 is completely loaded. I know when I was using GTX 470 (012-P3-1470-AR). I was able to see both of them loading the same during the post.

For those using Supermicro x8dai, if your current bios older than 2.1a, I would suggest that you install the GTX 770 first to see if it work or not before upgrading to firmware 2.1a. Also, the raid no longer work when you using GTX 770. Took me awhile to figure why Windows 7 won't load after a refresh installed.

I recently did a new system build, with the above card and the X-79 Dark.
I have two monitors plugged in, a 27" for my main monitor, and a 24 for my secondary monitor.
I use both DVI-D, and DVI-I outputs as well.
The DVI-D output goes to my main monitor.
The DVI-I output goes to the secondary, however I have to use a DVI-HDMI connector, as this monitor only has a HDMI and VGA inputs.
My post screen, bios ( if I access it), and Windows all display on the main monitor ( DVI-D connection).
There is no display on my second monitor until Windows loads.

Interestingly, when I did the initial setup of this build, I was using a HDMI - HDMI connector on the secondary monitor, the post screen always came up on the secondary monitor, then windows logon came up on the main monitor. I wanted all on the main so I tried using the DVI-I - HDMI connector for the secondary, then the post started coming up on the main.

Probably doesn't help you much, but if your question is will the post display on both monitors, I do not believe so - at least have never seen it on mine...

Brand new EVGA GTX 770 SC,ACX. Win 7 64, Windows loads fine and finds VGA card, but when I load drivers straight from the disc supplied and reboot, my PC hangs on the Loading Windows Page.
I can load windows in safe mode, but It will not go past the loading page in normal mode.

I am about to send it back to oveclockers, as 25 mins spent on the phone to Germany is not cheap, that's if they answer it every time I try.

Hey guys.  I'm having a compatibility issue as well.  Im trying to get a EVGA GTX 760 2g to run on my Z68MA-D2H-B3 Rev 1.3 (gigabyte).  I've updated the bios and the bios says im running the altest update but yet still no detection from my 760.  When i check the Device manager, it does not pop up.  I'm currently running my onboard gpu.  any suggestions would be great.

    Thanks,
    Tanner R.

Above post -- how did u get to the desktop if its not detected?

Anyway I'm on a GTX 750 Zotac Low Profile and I get 1 long 3 short on a Supermicro X7DCA-L... Tested it on another boards and it posted fine.

So I looked in the bios on a different card for PCIe options like Coalesce mode 128b or 256b idk if that helps and another "Force PCIe Compliance" I enabled that but didn't post again 1 long 3 short.  Maybe I'll try PCIe Coalses mode...  Other than that I don't know how to get it to work.

PCI-E I/O performance from “payload 256” to “Coalesce ->ROM Scan Ordering to ADD-ON first

    Thanks
