PhysX off?? In Batman?? In Gods name, why?? That game looks SOOO much better with the PhysX effects. It's really one of the true standout titles for the technology! (Heck, keep one of those 480s, and use it for a dedicated PhysX card alongside the 680! )

(plus i think its pretty bugged for performance in batman) (plus ati fans would not be able to compare) i have a few more to post (metro 2033 and just cause 2) but im tired so ill post those later

That's the whole point. I'm asking how long it'll take or him to see the 100-150 extra he's paying for a 680 over his 480 sli in power savings.
It's like the whole mentality of buying a hybrid. I believe for the same car to see a savings in going hybrid they say it takes 5 years. To me that doesn't make it worth it.

I can't see spending money to have the same performance you have. Ok..less heat and money..enough to justify the hassle of trading out all the parts and selling the 480's? I don't see the point. I will be waiting for the real Kepler to arrive...but thanks for all the hard work showing the perfomance comparison atm743! I appreciate it.

Nice benches, but why did you set all your high-setting benches only to 4x AA? I don't think you should hold back in any benches for a 2way SLI 480 vs a 680 comparison, on extreme settings. Even at 1080i, both card should still perform really well, and thus provide good scores. Could you provide avg Mem usage on the sides of each benches too? Nice job, though.

Thanks OP. I appreciate the comparison. Im currently gaming with a single GTX480 and seeing the comparison of two of my cards vs. one GTX680 really shows me that its a worthwhile upgrade. I game on just a single 1200p monitor so 2gb of vram is plenty for me. I cant wait to be able to move on to a much quieter and cooler running card. Does anyone know if EVGA is going to offer a non reference air cooled 680 that cools better than reference? Although the 680's cooling is far superior to my 480, I cant help but feel its performance could be even greater with a non reference cooling design.

I think the important thing to take away is that the 680 has higher minimum fps on most of the titles and that is useful in multiplayer where that random fps drop can cause you to get murdered. Although in MP most of those effects should be off anyway it allows you to see people easier.

I am not exactly sure. im really curious. are you and I looking at completely different benchmarks? all I see is, if heat and your electricity bill is too high you should move up, if not the 480s majority of the time performs better.

I think a couple of people in this thread over looked that this is (2) GTX 480's in SLI vs (1) GTX 680. This is amazing, even (2) 470's demolished a GTX 580 Classy in most benchies if I remember right. So the fact that a 680 keeps up and beats the 480's in Minimum FPS (this is the one that causes stuttering) means that the 680 is one powerful card!
