Hi guys

My two GTX 680 arrived, I`m using it in SLI, each card has 4 gb of ram

I`m a little curious about the temps, i ply here at 2560x1400 and just tried the Tomb Raider now and without VGA overclock and the fans set to 75% i`m geting about 78/83C in the hottest card

Is it normal? I know that this one is a heavy game, at heaven benchmark i got about 73C in Extreme test with everything one

And if it`s not normal what should i do?

Thanks

The GTX 680 is a very strong workhorse GPU so it is vital that your rig have maximum cooling. I have quite a few fans in my rig.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

you might want to try switching the cards around, my gpu 2 in the first slot is about 5c hotter than my gpu 1. gpu 2 in the second slot is around 67c max. my first card tops out at 72c just enough to start throttling back and forth between 1280 and 1226

You could try a test by setting the fans at 100% and see what the temps are. Also test after that with the side panel off of the case, might tell where the heat problem is located. Case air flow or GPU fans. The HAFX generally has good air flow!

With 80% fan speed the temps goes about 70/75

You could put the GPU tunnel with a good 120mm fan in it that came with the case, it really does help cool the GPu's

i'm getting same temps with games like Crysis 3 and FC3 when GPUs usage its' 99%...
i will probably change the cooler of 1 with an AC Twin Turbo II...
the sad is that i'm going to loose the BP... :(
i may try to fix a good CM:Excalibur right behind the GPUs to see how much temps goes down...

Honestly, you may remove the cooler (it's very simple) and reapply some quality thermal paste like MX4. I've now removed the coolers off of 7 GTX 670 FTW's and 680 Classified's and some of the TIM jobs from the factory were quite pathetic (and resulted in higher temps).

they do...but the temp keep going@80°C with BP and High flow bracket(the top card)...
while i have much more difference with the GPU2 that stay ~ 70/72°C

I would invest in some high airflow fans. I personally dont like the CM fans they put in any of there cases. I removed all mine. Im not to sure about how the hafx is setup fan wise. But as far as i know its got a side fan, so i would definitely be using that if your not. If you have a fan on the bottom of your case next to the PSU tht blows air up it will really help. My stryker has two of them and they make the biggest difference. The better the airflow the lower the temps will be. I got 3 670's in SLI and i can get them all up to 99% usage in game like bf3, crysis 3, and skyrim with a ton of mods at 2560x1440p or in 3D. The highest my top card has ever got after hours of gameplay is 67c (actually saw that today), middle one tops out at 65c and the bottom tops out at 63c. Buts its usually 65c,63c,60c during normal gameplay.

Did you install Precision-X and set up a fan profile for the video cards? I have 4x 680 Classy's on an ASRock Extreme 11 with the 3970X and after O/Cing the video to max settings they still stay under 80C. Top 70's on Aida 64 torture test that lets you include the graphics cards.

    I'm wondering how you got 78 - 83C? I thought the 600 series downclock past 70c

Maximum GPU Tempurature (in C) is 98 C. it should not down clock until it hit said temp.

78 to 80 is normal and ok for the card. hell 90c is ok for the card.

Btw they don’t ship the card with warnings that you have to run evga precisions for that card to stay with in thermal spec. all you cooling junkies need to understand that 80to 90c will not damage the card.

It is rated to 98c for a reason. It is because it can handle it.

Higher temps might lead to accelerated downgrading that will eventual failure, doesn't matter if it is rated that high

You are right, I have had my gtx 690 when benching as high as 94C most of the time i'm able to keep it down to 90c . In gaming 65-70c at idle 29 celsius.

That's crazy...... my 670 Ftws have yet to see above 64C. On average they run at about 47-50C with a 70% load. May want to look into your case cooling with those awful temps.

None of this is true^ The normal operating temperature for this card is 65C and under.......you should never see the 70C downclock. If you running these cards above 70C you need to look into your case cooling and fans, because your doing it wrong.

My primary 680 rarely passes 65° when gaming or running a benchmark with the same spacing between the two video boards as your setup. Only on the hottest Summer day has it reached 74° and even then it didn't throttle by downclocking.

That may be the case for a single GPU but remember the GTX 690 is a sc dual GPU and when benching I tend to oc it to the max .
