I have one evga gtx 570 and I'm playing wow with a dual monitor setup. I have a 46 inch 1920x1080 and a 23 inch 1920x1080. I have a 3.16 core 2 duo and 4 gig DDR3 ram on win 7 64 pro. All setting maxed in game. Just sitting in stormwind right now(around 30-35 fps) with the game on the 23 and typing this on the 46 im at around 98% GPU usage. Is this normal?

Core 2 duo is killing your setup really need a quad and overclock it.

Get your cpu clocked up to 3.6Ghz and you will have better results.

What are your frame rates when you just have the game on one screen and it is in fullmscreen mode?
I agree with steelcowboy though, a quad core would be ideal for the multi-tasking environment you are in

And how many other people are in stormwind at the moment as well. I know on litch king in daleran it would bog down my 480 on max settings when there was a ton of people on. Try it outa town away from everyone and see what you get

Yup I agree with the above. Core 2 Duo is your bottleneck.

You need a highly overclocked CPU for WoW for the most part, especially in cities. I found that even increasing my CPU past 4.2ghz up to 4.5ghz increased framerates noticeably.

Its WoW, its terribly coded. There is nothing wrong with your system. Unfortunately the new graphics changes for Cata have made things worse.

micah_675 Its WoW, its terribly coded. There is nothing wrong with your system. Unfortunately the new graphics changes for Cata have made things worse. That's not necessarily correct. It's not that the game is terribly coded, it's that the core engine was coded at a time when graphics cards were a lot less powerful and so some things that today are done by GPUs were coded to be done by the CPU in WoW. It would be really nice if one of these expansions would include a re-written graphics engine but it doesn't look like that's happening anytime soon. Instead they keep bandaging on extra stuff some of which marginally uses more GPU power.

My kids were in the same boat as you. (OP) A few patches before Cataclysm release, the changes crippled their C2D based systems. If you could bump up your cpu speed more it helps wonders, as many have already mentioned. Ended up just building them new systems in the end.
