I'm not sure if its due to the new drivers but right after I updated them this issue started happening  my computer crashed while I was playing a game this was around Christmas  when it happened... my computer started back up I now have white lines all over my screen after that one crash all of my games constantly make my PC just shut down the only thing I can do is browse with it.

I've tried older drivers that didn't work I tried many things that I knew wouldn't have worked.. so I popped in my 9800GT and now I can play my games without crashing and no white lines on boot up I'm just wondering if there is a fix because I would like to use my GTX 480 but that isn't going to happen.... I also bought the GTX 480 off of a forum member here on evga I'm really not familiar with how RMA's work or if I can even get one at this point! Sorry for the inconvenience still love evga cards hope someone can help me out thanks!

this isn't exactly what my screen looks but its pretty close to my problem grabbed it off of google

took some pictures of it the other day when I cleaned it to make sure it wasn't that causing the issues.

Use the Guest RMA page and enter your serial number to see if you have any warranty left: https://www.evga.com/support/guestregister.asp
Also, edit your one pic to black out your S/N so that others can't see it.

NP, I never used Guest RMA myself so I don't know how it works but some of those older boards came with a lifetime warranty. Whether it carries over to a second owner or not I don't know for sure.

Second thoughts: If the board did originally have a lifetime warranty you could contact the member you purchased it from and have him submit the RMA request for you.

It depends on the suffix on your part number. Like KA or KR. I used to know this from memory but I can't get the webpage to come up right now.

Got it: Limited Lifetime Suffixes: -A1, -A2, -A3, -A4, -AR, -AX, -CR, -CX, -DX, -FR, -FX, -SG, -SX

Did you try a different video cable or at least unplugging it and reseating it?

I've tried different cables I've also put it in another computer and it still has the white lines and causes it to crash if any games are played I've tried older drivers but I'm 100% sure the newest drivers caused my problems because it was right after I installed it and played a game issues started to occur.

this is the PSU I have http://www.newegg.com/Pro...x?Item=N82E16817171034 bought it around 2010 I believe. I'm not sure though man honestly as soon as I installed the latest drivers the very next thing I did was play UT4 within the first 5-10 minutes of playing I noticed the game was extremely glitchy and I was getting half the FPS I normally got then bam my PC crashed and had white lines everywhere... I've also tried the videocard on another computer with a 650W PSU and it still has the same issues.

5-6 year old psu, time to get a new one. I think your psu killed the card. A 9800GT doesn't pull anywhere near the amount of power a 480 can pull.

When a pc shuts down like that it's usually related to either the psu having a problem or hardware overheating. Since you're out of warranty you could try baking the card like this to see if it helps fix the card.
