Hello EVGA community! I have RMA'd a GTX 1080ti. I just received my new card a few days ago. However, i'm having temperature issues with it.
While playing The Witcher 3 and other games. My GPU temperature reaches over 84 Celsius at times. It hasn't gone past 85 Celsius. However, i'm told by EVGA Tech
reps. That, that temperature is still within range of safe operation, but they do tell me that it is on the warm side. My fan setup -- I have
4 120mm fans in-taking, and 2 120mm exhausting. (three on the front of the case, two on the top of the case, and one in the back)

Prior to that fan setup. I had five 120mm in-taking and one exhausting, but there was no improvement in GPU temperature. I have a Phantek p400
Tempered glass case. And they have dust protectors over the vents of the case. They are removable and I have removed them, but I still have little
to no improvement in my GPU temperatures. I have adjusted the fan curves in Precision X, but the fans are working very hard and they seem to fluctuate
which I think is normal depending on how I have the fan curve setup. But these loud fan noises really bother me. And it makes me feel like my
graphics card is struggling really hard.

I also have a 750 watt power supply. I'm not sure if that would affect anything but I guess it's good for you all to know that. Regarding the fans.
I don't want to have some type of cooling failure two or three years down the line. I plan on milking this card for every year of high end gaming
I can get on it. Because generally I don't have $815 to spend on gpu's as this GPU was a family birthday gift. And I really want to take care
of it. So, that's why I'm so concerned about trying to keep it cool while gaming on it multiple hours a day. My room temperature stays between 74 and 75
degrees Fahrenheit even on hot summer days.

So I'm reaching out for help as far as what I should do to get better cooling, than 84 degrees Celsius under load. Also, I am not sure if this is a common
Issue with these cards. Or if it's something that can be fixed with a driver update in the future. Let me know if I'm over stressing this as well.
There are so many different people saying that 84 celsius is fine. there are a lot of people saying 84 Celsius is too hot. Also wondering if any of you
Have a phantek p400 tempered glass case and having this issue? Also none of my components in my PC are overclocked at all. Thank you all for reading this and,
thank you for any advice in advance.

It seems like you've done all the right things, but without more details, it's hard to offer any advice. I would upload a picture of your system, and a picture of the curve you've set in XOC, as well as a picture of the hardware monitor output during a temp ramp up in the Witcher 3. It might be that your fan curve is not aggressive, or you're missing a possibly superior fan config for your system. In general, you should't worry as much about how hard the fans are working rather than the temps they're achieving. Once you establish a fan curve that keeps the core under 80C, then you can start minimizing individual fan speeds. Lastly, which 1080Ti model do you have, and out of curiosity, what was your original RMA for?

    Welcome to the forums.

Witcher 3 is very demanding on the GPU (a lot of people complain about high temps) and some of your other games may be as well..The GPU temp isn't out of the ordinary, in my opinion..If your GPU is cranking out an unneccessary amount of frames per second, that will greatly affect GPU temp..You can limit the FPS in the Framerate Target in EVGA Precision in the settings menu..What monitor(s) are you running?

That's all I have, other than perhaps replacing the TIM on the GPU..Other forum members may chime in with ideas too.

The GPU will be fine up to those temps and up to like 93 deg C, but that's really the thermal max. At stock power/temp limit the card will throttle when you get to 84 deg C. You can raise the temp limit to 90 deg C safely, but most people don't like to run that hot all the time. The only downside to running at 84 C is that you will be limited in your overclock. The Pascal cards like to be under 60 C ideally.

I have the same case with a 1080ti and heat management is a real issue. The 1080ti just makes a lot of heat and the P400 isn't big enough to get a ton of fans into it. You might try using 140mm fans at the front and top of the case for more air flow.

Also changing the stock fan curve in precision or afterburner will usually help too. If you run the video card fans at 35 or 40% and ramp up from there, the temperatures usually stay in check better.

You can also try undervolting the card which can make it run cooler while hitting similar clock speeds.

I assume the rear fan is used for intake? I'd try switching it to exhaust. I'd think that it would help make a smooth entry to exit airflow path with less turbulence. The heat needs to be pulled OUT of the case, not just mixed around with excessive intake air. Try that, and also experiment with different case fan speeds. Try to get a neutral balance of in vs out.

What ever you can do to get some air flow through and around the GPU fans would help. Tidying up the cables too.
