Please see attached GPU-Z image.

I'm new to monitoring peripherals, considering I'd never spent so much money on a computer before lol.

I wanted to make sure these random spikes were safe, or if not, what I could do.

My 3080ti is connected by 3 separate VGA cables into a EVGA 750w G3 GOLD Power Supply.

Thank you all for your insight!

All safe and completely normal, pretty common for GPU (and CPU for that matter) utilization to spike at random times when it does things.

GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 ULTRA HYBRID

Spoiler
this should be on the trunk of a car

No problemo! Another thing to check if you are using GeForce Experience and aren't capturing your desktop is to disable "Desktop capture" as this can also cause higher GPU utilization at idle.

Note:  If you have Instant Replay On you have to turn it off temporarily so you can disable the other setting.

1.) Press ALT+ Z (if you see Instant Replay On turn it off quick)
2.) Click cog/gear on the right
3.) Scroll down to Privacy Control
4.) Turn off Desktop capture
5.) If you turned off Instant Replay in step 1 and want it back on you can turn it back on now.

Enjoy!

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Seems my capture features weren't turned on, but it's good to know there's a correlation between the two. Hope you have a good day :)
